C300 Alternative Exhaust Tips

The oem tips on my c300 were bugging me so I went and found an alternative. I cut off the stock oval tips and welded about 3 inches of 1 and 3/4" pipe to the end of it, retaining the factory allen screws incase I want to go back to stock. I had to buy a oscillating tool to trim around the plastic insert on the bottom to make room for the larger tips and used a variety of files, sandpaper, and heat to smooth out the edges.

The tips I bought to replace them were off of a Porsche 911. I was trying to get a hold of any rectangular tip about 6-7 inches wide. My first choice was to get tips from a newer generation Acura TL but I was not able to find any.

I would advise you to set your tips in a permanent position before you make the final cuts on the plastic. I will say that this is not an easy task to make a perfect fit and finish. Luckily everything came out pretty well. BTW, the tips I bought are bolt-on so I can adjust the depth, angle and tilt of them.

I feel like the stock exhaust tips look much better with the car, but maybe that's just because I'm used to them? Looks like a nice job.

Surprisingly looks good! :y

Thanks, smoked led tail lights are on the way and I need to remount my rear spoiler then I should be done.

I really like the look of those tips on your car! Where'd you buy your wheels?

ob4rEaL 06-04-2012 05:31 AM

I like it....something diff

brnrber 06-04-2012 10:33 AM

Wheels were bought directly from a distributor off of eBay. It's cheaper to buy direct.

Kudos for trying something different and new! :y
I always wondered what it would look like without the "usual" quad setup.

savi01 06-06-2012 12:19 AM

I like the look! As others have mentioned, it's different than the usual quad-setup, yet not stock. Suits the car, good job.

sbce90 06-06-2012 08:54 AM

I think they look terrific. Just like how the E class gets the big trapezoidal tips, the C should come with something like this standard. Good job!

I like them as well, but I think you mean you could not care less.

In any event, as long as comments are civil and polite, we do welcome all opinions! :D

brnrber 06-06-2012 11:49 AM

Thanks for the comments, I will post some better pictures with the new taillights, spoiler, and when the car is clean.

blue00r6 06-06-2012 11:54 AM

Are those the Ebay c63 reps with 35 offsets? lets see some more pics!

K3NnYDRuM 06-06-2012 02:39 PM

those looks real good

stilolos 06-06-2012 07:08 PM

Agreed with the above. They suit the car really well and are different. Personally, i wouldn't put a quad exhaust on my C220 as it implies power which really it doesn't have!

05 MB Komp 06-06-2012 11:18 PM

I like them!

Kudos for coming up with something different.

brnrber 06-20-2012 08:47 PM

Heres some updated pictures even though the car is dirty and i took the pics prior to putting on my spoiler. hope this helps.

Great job! What kind of of weld did you use? Nice Porsche tips too. :y Are they sticking out at the same dimension as the OEM or are they out a little further? Just asking?

Thanks! Used a standard wire feed welder. Tips are sticking out maybe a tad further? I just set them to where i thought they looked best...didnt try to mimic the stock setup.

This look really good, only if they weren't blue or whatever...

@OP: Very nicely done!!!

@tasho3, blue00r6: If you notice the blue version is staggard, and the silver one is not. =(

Stevedotmil 06-22-2012 05:02 PM

I wonder if those tips would work with the C63 diffuser? Nicely done.

JasonHu 06-22-2012 05:44 PM

Are these what you used? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-997-...03b5ff&vxp=mtr
