Don't think it's my EIS?

Hey guys
Recently for my C300, in the morning, warm or cold, it would crank a few times more than it has to before the car would actually start.

Today something else happened. I would start my car and the car starts but after like 3-5 seconds the car would just stall. I had to start my car for the 4th time for it to work. I did some searching and found that those with EIS problem just don't crank/start at all.

Do anyone know if it is indeed the EIS or can it be something else?

Thank you guys!

Mine has just started doing the same thing!

That does not sound like the EIS to me. Now if you put the key in and it would not turn that is more like an EIS issue.

SO, what is it? SA posited that it could be the cam position sensor (at 24k?). I can tell you it got worse when I used non-ethanol gas in it one week, same source I use for my 92 SL, with no problems. I started to think it was something to do with air/fuel mixture, like maybe it was running too rich at startup for gasoline, expecting lower-potency e10. But it should compensate and adjust for pure gasoline, and it seemed not to. It chugged very low for 3-5 seconds yesterday, didn't die this time, but took tool long to even out. And this is on a tank of e10.

Spark plugs, spark plug wires, dirty MAF, clog in the throttle body? Does your RPM drop after starting?

If so, the MAF and throttle body are easy to clean. Simply buy MAF cleaner and spray the MAF. Same goes for the throttle body/butterfly valve (not sure how to access it with Mercedes). Youtube how to clean those correctly so you don't damage anything.

Hi mate,

It can be an EIS problem. Reason being EIS has several functions apart from turning the key. We had customers come in with same problems we identified the circuit boards do go faulty. The EIS is working ok to the point where it has to turn the key but its not authorizing the starter. Please also check whether if you have problems with any other electrical function in the car.

Regards

Jim
