Introduction and Rock Chips Help Please
I just bought a 2008 C350, which is the first nice car I've ever owned. This is also my first post so hello to everyone.
Today on the highway a semi truck didn't see the car next to it in the left lane (which was in front of me), and inadvertantly ran it off the road while changing lanes. The car got around the semi OK but not before throwing up a huge wave of rocks from the edge of the ditch that came down directly on the front of my car.
This made me furious.
Anyway, one rock put a hole through a mesh grille piece, and my bumper and hood now have 15-20+ chips and scratches from the 1,000,000 other rocks that rained down all over it.
My questions are: is this a legitimate insurance claim? what has been the result of others who have had this type of work done? do good body shops respray, or touch up and buff, or do something else?
I just don't know anything about bodywork repair. I do know that I want my car fixed and I'm totally annoyed about this. I drove old cars for 10 years without incident, but a month after buying a beautiful Mercedes this happens. Damn it.
Thanks!

About three cars ago, while following a ready mix truck on the Interstate, it dumped a quantity of wet concrete out of the chute, right in front of me. I stopped the truck when it took an exit and got the driver's info. The concrete company paid to replace everything facing forward including replacement of the windshield, headlight glasses, grill, windshield molding plus painting the car forward of the a-pillar. Plus the rental car.
In my state, dropping anything on the road is illegal so there was no debate.
Cost about $3500.
