had a little spare time today in the shop only a few customers, so took the C class in and removed the headlights and painted them black The good thing about benz headlights is they dont use silicone glue to hold the glass into place, but some other sticky stuff that is super easy to take apart, just quickly heat 1-2sec all around the glass and you can remove it.. I use flatblack spray paint because when its dry you wont be able to see any imperfections as you would be able to do with gloss black

also when there is nothing to do @ work you tend to shop around on ebay, so 2012 AMG flat bottom steering was bought today and allready shipped from germany, so hopefully it should arrive wednesday and that horrible stock steering wheel can be exchanged

I don't know if you guys really know your stuff or are just brave enough to dig in, but damn that looks like a pretty in depth project and it turned out great - Kudos to you man...

Its really quite simpel i spent a little under 4 hours in total getting them off, taking apart, painting, and putting the car back together..

There is really norhing that can go wrong, all the chrome parts are held into place with screws so you have to work really hard to break something

The heat gun and gluing the headlight back together is what scares me, I don't want to get any condensation in there afterwords

There is no "glue" in the lights if you take a audi headlight its REAL silicone glue like you use on windows theese are really **** to take apart, if you dont want to use a heat gun put them in the oven at 400f for 2mins, use a screwdriver to open the glass and you can pull it apart you can see all the black stuff from when i remove the glass, this says on the housing and on the glass and you can just push them together again afterwards and you are good to go.. I did the same mod on my s class 2yrs ago and never had any problems and they were held together by the same kind of "glue"

And i live in scandinavia with **** weather most of the year

There was another member on here (Juno or something like that) that did this for other people and all the pictures he posted showed he used the heating gun and there was that black glue on them ( maybe on the US version w204's?) but you make it seem very easy, I might give it a try

I would do it also bur the distance and shipping cost would make it crazy expensive.. You could do it without the heatgun with just a screwdriver and a knife but then there is a even bigger chance that you will maybe break the housing

so yesterday I got the C63 style frontbumper on and the AMG sideskirts

and today I installed the 2012 AMG flatbottom steering wheel, and the buttons are working, but there is no light in the buttons as all the other who have swapped the steering wheel seem to fight with, I got the diagrams today from MB from old to new model steering and will compare them to see if something is different, otherwise I have to swap the steering column module and get it working, but damn what a difference it is to drive the car now, so much better

That adapter came with the fog lights, the C63 style uses H7 where the stock is H11

Nice job on the housing. Think I`m gonna do this. What sort of paint did you use for the headlamp housing and did you roughen it up and prime it before painting?

I love the new wheel. I really want to do this to my C350 but I want the lights to work as well.

Keep up the good work!
