Removing Chrome Door Handle Cups

Im not sure if anybody has any experience with this but thought I'd post the question anyway. I got the car about a month ago and plan to black it out. Unfortunately, one of the stupid 1990's packages the car came with was the chrome door handle/cup treatment. I stole this car as far as the price is concern so I couldnt be too picky with options.

Anyway, I attached a pic of what it looks like currently. It seems to just an additional piece over the regular body/paint. Looks aweful IMO, especially on a black car. When I press on the piece it seems to be simply glued or pasted. Has anbbody attempted adding or removing this piece? If so do I have to take off that actual door handle? Anything else involved?

Thanks.

No, you dont have to remove the handle, just try it with a fishing line, insert the line between the cup - body move line up down, you should cut the double tape or glue...

This will work. Once the 3M tape is cut loose it takes a bit of wiggling to get them off. then just clean off the glue residue.

Another round of ICE
Maybe q-tip daub, or spray a little Goo Gone along the top edge, allow it to work its way under and repeat as you pull it off or snake in the fishing line?

Everyone is right. I had the same stupid looking package that came with my car. I used fishing line, heat gun, goo gone. They just didn't slide right off that easily. I decided to break the chrome in the middle of doing so. But that results in some scratches in that handle bay. But I used touch up paint to touch up the area.
GL buddy.

This glue strip is best attacked with careful use of a heat gun before you try removal.

some models that had it added have another 3m strip in the middle of the chrome piece, where Glyn's picture shows two lines of red one at the top and one at the bottom, there are some that have a third in the center.
