Something wrong? No brake dust,

Something wrong? No brake dust,
I have a 12 C250 with 1600 miles on it and there seems to be little to no brake dust. We had a C300 that had the worst dust in the world. I have had 4 MB cars in the last few years and all had terrible black dust, my 09 ML was so bad you thought someone was taking a spray gun with black goo and spraying the car.
Does anyone else find no dust on their 12 C250? What gives? Not that I am complaining. I am thrilled.

Mine is 2011 and I could hardly see any brake dust any time. Brakes are working normally so I do not worry.

I also have a 12 GLK that has a very bad brake dust issue so I guess the new formulation did not apply to that car.

I've noticed this as well with mine - I attributed it to there being so much open area on the wheels, but I am glad to hear they changed the pad composition. Coming from a smart that could make the front wheels and tires blend together after 500 miles - it is a welcome change.

Do you think the cross driled brake rotor in the front is better than the "plain" one at the back?
I searched for my other SUV and got mixed answers. Some say cross drilled rotor removes brake dust better but easier to warp, due to less material, slotted is better than cross drilled, and slotted + cross drilled is ... In the end I got a vague impression that the "plain" rotor is a good choice; the other types are more for look.
Why doesn't MB use cross dilled rotor at the back?

Just for the record of how they look in the earlier W204

Different wheels create different turbulence.

I own a 2009 C300 4Matic, but I recently installed 2012 wheels in it, and no, that doesnt change anything with the dust.

Those have a center channel that I would have thought would catch more dust. I have the 18" 7 spokes which are a lot more "spindly" and have less surface area and curves, which is what I was getting at.
