HOW TO: AMG C63 seats into any W204

I have done this conversion before and it is not as simple as it may first appear.

Firstly, when you install the AMG seats the SRS light will come on and you won't be able to clear it.

Why ? It is because the normal seats have the spring-loaded head rest and those have a wire which goes directly to the SRS unit. Since the AMG seat does not have the mechanism the wires are therefore missing.

Secondly, the AMG seats dont use the seat cushion to detect occupancy. The use the seat belt lock to trigger occupancy. The obvious reason is that when you can brake at more than 1G then your occupant is not going to be creating any pressure on the seat - so the seat sensor is a waste of time.

Thirdly, the AMG seats have a slight modification to the main power harness which operates the memory module. From this power wire there is a branch which powers the side bolster adjustment. Tap the power using the same amperage wire and create a new connector line (power and earth) about 12 inches long.

My advice is to visit a dealership and put your camera under the seat and take a few photos.

To overcome the SRS fault you will need a plan.
========================================
- If for some reason the original seats are already gone then create a temporary dummy load on the SRS lines for NECK PRO headrest. I seem to recall it was listed in WIS as to the appropriate OHM loading. I used a decade box

http://salestores.com/stores/images/...747/380405.jpg

This box will attach to the floor wiring since the AMG seat does not have any such cable in the seat. Alternately, do the reprogramming before you remove the old seats .... then you can avoid a lot of hell and skip the next step.

- then you must clear the SRS faults if any.

* Recode the SRS module as mentioned below while you have no errors.

- then install the AMG seats.

Recoding the SRS module NOTE THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
=========================

- Under normal conditions the SRS module is totally locked and can not be version coded. It must be unlocked first with a password.

- In the SRS module using the diagnostic you must obtain the SRS release code using a keygen or password key from MB support.

- Enter the password. Now the SRS module is released.

- Enter the developer mode and scrub out the features called NECKPRO for left and right. And make the passenger occupancy indicator the belt buckle.

Advisable steps
============

1/ Recode SRS

2/ Modify power harness with new additional cable - use Wurth cloth tape.

3/ Install AMG seats

If the original neck-pro seats are missing
===============================

1/ Create dummy resistance loads for neckpro and seat detector as per WIS guidelines.

2/ Clear SRS faults

3/ Recode SRS unit

4/ Remove dummy loads

5/ Clear SRS codes (now shows neck-pro present without SRS support)

6/ Modify power harness - use Wurth cloth tape

7/ Connect power back to AMG seats.

thanks for the write up!

i'm really looking into swapping my stock seats, but since the C63 AMG seats here in china cost $20k USD for the pair.... I'm thinking of throwing in some Sparcos, in which case I will loose all the memory seat features.

Is it just me or are the factory non-amg seats in these cars EXTREMELY uncomfortable? I get back and neck pain after driving for an hour, my 1991 civic DX had way more comfortable seats. I can't believe they'd put such a seat in a Benz..

You will need to modify some of the parameters if you want no SRS errors. In any event, you should make a bracket for the drivers memory module as that also controls the steering wheel.

Ergonomics is a very delicate artform. Small changes in height and body weight have significant influence on driving position.

If you intend to go to so much expense why not write a letter to AMG and ask them if they will make you a seat equal to the brand you specified. I can see no reason why you can't use a memory seat frame and attach the shaped plastic to that frame. Though it needs to meet with crash standards.

On a positive note, you should be able to switch the SRS over to seat-belt trigger. That means it will look at the seat belt lock to determine if the airbag is deployed.

I was able to get a second set of the SRS modules that go in the headrests, connect and zip tie them behind the seat when I added my headrest screens. Never had a fault with them.

There is no module as such. Unless you are referring to the "airbag simulator" module which people use to bypass the seat occupancy sensors (often in ML) when they break.

You won't have errors but I wish to indicate that in a crash your passengers airbag deployment is totally dependent on the module you installed. If there are any issues with the actuation then your passenger will not get any airbags.

I may sound like a "fussy-person" but I stress that coding beats modification when it comes to SRS.

I'm looking for a wiring diagram for these seats. Specifically wiring for the air bags, power, and heated seat wires.

C63seat back removals

Hi can any one tell me how to get off the rear shell from a c63 seat

QUestion about conversion

I have just Bought some leather seats from EBAY, my car w204 2010 Model has cloth interior, for the Leather seats I am missing a cable that connects the seats 14PIN brain to the door PANEL.
I have found the WIRING HARNESS on ebay that has the connection I am missing.
DO you think that just by connecting the missing cable from brain to door panel will make the SEATS work?
I dont care much about the Heating in the seats, just wants the adjustment controls to work.

i fitted these seats with my original seat bases and changed the back took me a day of hard work could not find any body that would do coding but all electrics worked as the original seats, but had active head rest circuit open and both air bags not active for twelve months i thought that i would never get this issue over with ,but i finally did by driving to a place called london code IG119PG 02085912121 ASK FOR FAAHAD OR FAHEEM very friendly helpful and sorted hope this helps you ....also coded retro fit led lights with foglight issue know sorted GOOD LUCK

W204 amg seat

Hi i have a 2011 mercedes c350 want to put c63 amg seats
if
you can help me or give me a number for sum one who can many thanks

pauleferrar 03-10-2017 04:05 AM

The seats will need coding for the air bags , theres a place that did mine called( london code ) give them a call . they are very helpful . i took the c63 seat base from both front seats and changed them for my original ones so my switches work from bottom of the seat as originals in my car did, i have dummy door card switches that don't work but look the part, the buttons on the c63 seat sides also do not work ,but i am perfectly happy with mine know and they are very comfortable it takes about a day to transplant the seats over like i did. you never know they might be able to code the air bags in if you just change the seats over .hope this makes sense to you and good luck.
