2011 w204 bixenon headlamp damaged

Hi everyone, I have the 2011 w204 c350 with 4matic sport, in bi-xenon headlamp with auto-leveling. I damaged my passenger headlamp which there are no visible damages, but the inside part of the headlamp is done. When I start my car, the lowbeam doesn't come on and it doesn't auto-level anymore, as before it would when it wasn't damaged. There is also a message "check low beam light" appeared on the instrument cluster. I went to the dealer today and they said i need in around 3000$ CAD to get a new headlamp with labor work done. So.. my question : Is there another way that I can get it cheaply fixed. I don't need the factory functions, I can live without auto-leveling. I just need my low beam to come back on so i don't need to get pull over by officers. Can I actually buy a "retrofit hid kit" on ebay to replace my original damaged one? Thanks for he help and I appreciate it.

Stealership it is!!! i saw a decent used bi-xenon headlamp that goes for about 1000 usd. This is definitely a DIY doable project and will cost you less than 1/3 of what they quote you. I'm sure you can find a even cheaper bi-xenon in wrecking yard... to me, I say try to find a used bi-xenon or even a brand new one from parts.com then replace it yourself.

here is the link posted by mikonuj917 on how to replace headlamp!

But that video mentioned it is for the removal guide for halogen types of headlight housing. I have the bixenon headlight housing with auto-leveling. I also asked technicians about replacing a halogen housing instead of the OEM Bixenon one, but they said it will not work as it has different electrical operation plus current difference. Will a retrofit plug and play hid kits work with certain decoders or etc?

The installation of the bi-xenon and halogen headlamp will be the same. IMO you should not use after market HID as the quality is not as good as the stock one. From what you have described in the original post, part of your headlamp assembly has been damaged. it could be your auto-leveling motor, or just the assembly itself is cracked...i dont know but eitherway, if you buy a complete headlamp set ( which is about the price i quoted earlier ), all you really have to do is to follow the video and install the entire headlamp. The extra step you will need to do is probably removing the D1s ( or d2s I forgot as mine is halogen) hid bulb from the old one and place it in the new one.

When I broke my xenon light I found a used assembly in good condition here on the forums for $350. I installed it my self using that video as a guide. The only difference between halogen and xenon is on the xenon you have to disconnect the headlamp washer from the bottom of the light. Disconnecting is the easy part, putting it back on is hard. You have to put it back on after you put the light in place or else you wont fit it in. Then after lining up the washer assembly in the right spot (the hardest part), you have to fish a torx screwdriver through the headlamp washer door to tighten it. Everything else is relatively easy.

Maybe you should just try replacing the xenon bulb first? I don't see what could go wrong that would cause electric to the bulb to be cut off. It's probably just a bad bulb.

The technician in Benz tried replacing a bulb for me, but it won't work. Neither the new bulb nor the auto-leveling function works when i start my car. Can I just put in a retrofit HID set into my bi-xenon housing? I don't care how bad the quality is for the retrofit set, I just want a beam of light emits out from the housing, so i won't get pulled over from polices. And I dont think i should remove the bumper and stuff by myself as I am not experieicend with these..

Maybe a bit off topic, but what did you do to damage your headlamp?

bumped against a big garbage bin, slightly scratched my passenger side front bumper and went for a service check, they said it might be those thin wires inside the headlight housing that is broken.

The levelling works on the other light, I assume. There is no way on this earth that one headlight assembly can cost $3000, Canadian or not.

So I found out one thing today.... The cable that connects to my OEM hid bulb doesn't seem working.. I tried to replace my working D1S bulb to the defective side, but neither the auto-leveling nor the lights comes on. So i guess there's some serious damages inside..
