Magnaflow Stainless Steel 2.25" Tru X Pipe INSTALLED -08' C350 - (SEE UNDER CAR PICS)

Bought this X-Pipe 6 months ago when it was only $60 bucks...

Been busy as f * c k and with gas prices at $5+ a gallon, I finally gave up on holding to get it installed at the guy in Orange County who only charges $65...

Most places in LA wanted around $120 since they said they needed to add extender pipes since the Magnaflow x-pipe that a lot of us got is wayyyy too short....

First guy I went to today said he couldn't do it because his eyes hurt (wtf) but he would normally charge $120 (no surprise)...

The next guy said they could do it for $75 and I got all excited only to realize that when I got there they would need to add extender pipes and used that as a cop out to charge me $125.... I said fine whatever, and talked him down to $115 and drove it up on the lift :)

So here are the pics of how they welded it in with the extender pipes:

Now my question for you guys is, does it make any difference if they used 2 long extender pipes on the rear vs 2 short extender pipes on the front and 2 short extender pipes on the rear and perfectly centered the x pipe where the old resonator was?

Obviously that would have been 2 more welds and 2 more pipe cuts so I am thinking the welder got lazy? Or does this pretty much have zero effect and it is better to have less welds of possible than more?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated :y:bow:

But initial impressions are great and as expected. Noticeable "balls" in the exaust note around 3200-3500 RMP, not too ricey or anything... And then with the windows down, you can tell a slight little constant baby-drone at lower RPM levels, but with windows up, you cannot hear it....

I definitely would not want to take off the mufflers as well, would be way too ricey for my taste, but think this little but of aggressiveness is just perfect, especially for the price of $175 including parts...

Check out this post for a comparison on which install location is the best:

1- Long Extender pipes towards front?
2- Long Extender pipes towards rear?
3- Short Extender pipes on both sides?

Should have gave you the extended pipes for free. Got mine quoted at $60 but it may be because I'm in the Bay Area? It was $60 no exception and he installed the extra piping at no charge.

ya for some reason nobody on the westside of LA wanted to touch it for under $100

called like 8-9 different places... only one place in orange county i found for $65...

must be people wanting to rip off benz owners just cus they THINK we have extra cash to blow

i paid 250 for mine, ONLY because they custom made the X pipe in stainless and used 409 stainless. The used a mandrel bender and there welds look like perfect beads layed like a stack of pennies. Check it out

Oh ya saw ur custom one before ... Looks nice, probably same function though...

You think it matters whether they put it more towards the rear or towards the front ( see pics above to see what I mean )?

more towards the rear i read is raspy so I have read, i do not know the truth

This way (extender pipes on rear side of x pipe):

Or this way (extender pipes on front side of x pipe):

What are the pros/cons or is there any noticeable difference?

I have heard one is raspier than the other, but not sure which is which... :nix:

`Where is the resonator actually located? I just want to remove the resonator and straight pipe it, I want to go into an exhaust shop knowing at least a little something haha.

Its alright, I got raped on my install. It was my first time with exhaust and I didn't shop around. I used the Magnaflow tru-x x-pipe and he somehow tricked me into paying $275 for him to install it and use "409" stainless steel extender pipes. LMAO. If only I knew then what I knew now. With that said, he did do the best looking job I have seen to date...

I found a guy that does pretty good work on the cheap now. Dropped out my entire factory C250 exhaust and custom built a Quad Exhaust option with my supplied quad tips, magnaflow magnapack and y-pipe for only $200! Quality was great and the sound is much better then I expected/feared.

Here was how my setup looked on my C300 4Matic:

Here is a sound/video clip of it:

Here is a second clip, this time with that x-pipe setup and the mufflers removed:

I defintiely think that having the extender pipes first then the x-pipe gives a much raspier/aggressive sound and tone.

@ MRC250, the resonator is right where we place the x-pipe and extender pipes. Since you have a C250 model you only have one pipe and you can't x-pipe it. It looks like this:
http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/y...e/3c3b09bb.jpg

That small chamber on the top left is the resonator and the bottom part is the muffler. It is a bit comlex to straight pipe it as the exhaust entry/exit on the C250 resonator is offset. Not to mention that you would have to hackup the factory exhaust. If I were you I would drop it out completely like I did above and do a custom setup. Then you can sell the factory exhaust in-tact which would be very valuable.

I did a quad exhast setup, but you could easily just do a single exhaust setup. Here is what the C250 sounds like with a single magnapack muffler:
