Only you can do this with multimedia interface. Please, may have a look at my previous post to reach my solution.

For Audio 20, there is not any Video Aux slot before 2011 models made by MB, but new 2012 model Audio 20 has 1 Video Aux for rearview cam and also 6 CD changer.

So I have a 2008 with MM COMMAND system

I currently have a backup CAM installed...

But if I buy that interface, will it allow me to have auxillary input so I can rig up a similar internet setup as well?

or do I have to have a 2012?

I think you have Command NTG4.0. If you buy that interface it allow you to have extra aux input and you can connect any device that has video output like
my android in my previous post. As you know that this multimedia interface is not orginal MB part. It is korea or china. You have to be carefully when it is setuping it, so you need to have a person who is familiar with electronical devices. Any wrong cable connection or shortcut circuit can cause your car brain damage.

To understand you have NTG4.0 or 4.5 you will have Browser sign (world sign) at top right side of the screen. If there is a World icon so you have NTG4.5 and you have 2 AV input.

If you have NTG4.0, there is a best solution for you. We applied retrofit for NTG4.5 to a car and NTG4.5 is working now Yes, you can replace your NTG4.0 with NTG4.5. This is orginal solution!. As you see that in my previous post, the multimedia module is chines modules. If i have no orginal solution i prefer to use this type of modules.

For orginal solution, you need Comand Online NTG4.5 for W212 (head unit), Telematics cables, lcd screen, gps antena and Xentry Developer edition to enable NTG4.5 for your car. If you dont have Xentry developer you have to go to MB service. If you go to MB services, you need thief PIN code and include head unit code 527 into your car data card (To include head unit code is hard part). If you have problem to supply these parts, i can recommend someone in germany. He gets these parts from damaged car and sending to us. I checked it to know from MB service in Turkey against stolen parts or not, it was not.

I have looked at Ebay right now, there are new multimedia interface products;

Hey Davinong, you are cool man! Mercedes is hobby for my life that's why i know these things

If you setup for VIM module to the Head Unit and have problem while SCN coding, press BACK button on steering wheel about 5 sec. to disable VIM module. Otherwise Xentry will give an video (VCD) error in comand. After SCN coding is succesfully made, do it first procedure again to enable it.

And be carefull while driving car it can be dangerous sometimes..

Anyway i am trying ever since i bought it to enter the secret menu so i can unlock the VIM feature without adding extra wires. Do you happen to know the combination?? Honestly i really want to set up the tv so my baby could watch cartoon etc :p If not let's say i used the hardware to succeed it, my question is with the second tool you recommended (android, dual core etc) i'm i able to have some kind of gps on it? Or even better can i just connect my phone with the car with some kind of hdmi cable so i can see the screen directly on the comand?

Hi Antros, Thank you for your thoughts.

I'm happy to give ideas to solve your problems. It is possible to have Comand Online NTG4.5. To learn this, just look at top right of the screen and if there is world sign you have NTG4.5.

I think there should be a menu to enable/disable VIM from Engineering menu but sorry i havent found yet. There are 2 Eng.Menu in your comand. First is press HangUp+1+# buttons about 5 sec then you are going into Eng.Menu. After entering Eng.Menu, press Hangup+3+# buttons to enter second Eng.Menu . There is not any function to enable/disable VIM in these two eng.menus. In this case, you have to use VIM hardware module.

In my android there wasnt any GPS, but we can connect USB GPS module . There may be built-in GPS android devices in AliExpress.

You can use HDMI Input by using this module,

http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/200372686.html

Thanks to this module, you can connect your phone with the car with some kind of hdmi cable so you can see the screen directly on the comand. Don't forget you have to accept some resolution lose on comand screen

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-E...item27ce3019b1

You can get from Ebay. But, you have to be carefull. You need theif PIN code for NTG4.5 .. If you want to setup head unit as a part of car you have include head unit to your data card. After adding data card, you have to make SCN coding. SCN coding can be made by MB official services. IF you dont do this, in a period it locks and says that car should be made SCN coding. To pass this situation press power button about 10sec. for resetting

I also have to mention that, you have NTG4.0 and to install NTG4.5 there are some socket pin changes on telematic CAN cables. You need to find specialist person to do this.

You are right, you have to spend money make it happen.

There is an advertisement on Ebay, it maybe help to you.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Ben...ad4786&vxp=mtr

I always prefer to buy clean head unit before buy head unit from Ebay, i'm asking MB to know head unit is clean. I never accept and use unclean head unit. You have to prefer head unit from damaged car. To check it get VIN number and ask to MB against for problems.

Thumbs up What connections?

Which is the video aux fakra socket and what connection is your audio being fed into? Is it one of the mini din connections? Can you select an external audio source if video aux is selected like bluetooth audio or aux audio. Looks a great install and hope to do similar myself.

Excuse my ignorance, but the is the AUX IN for the Audio 20 not via a RCA jack? I guess I'm just having wishful thinking for a plug and play solution.

2- You have to select AUX tab. If you dont have AUX selection, you need to enable Video AUX from the Engineering Menu. (Press 3 second whole button to enter Eng.Menu "Hangup+1+#")

3-Here is Android SplashScreen while loading

4- Desktop of Android

5-Keyboard for android. I prefer this trackball keyboard, because it is very difficult to use the touch keyboard.

You can Buy from: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/110518339.html

6- Here is my tidy glove box Android MiniX801 is attached with adhesive tape.

7- Yellow arrow is Keyboard USB module, Green is WIFI antena. Android has also AV output so that you can directly connect to Comand NTG4.5 you dont need to any converter for this MiniX Android.

Buy from: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/110517005.html

8-MiniX Android is nice but little bit slow. It has 1 Core CPU.

But, you can buy this;

It has Dual Core 1.6 CPU this is very cool.. Its speed is very nice. But you need to buy also a HDMI to AV converter. I can obviously say that converting HDMI to AV is not good for display because, you are losing screen resolution. (Comand NTG4.5 has 1280x800 screen res.)

Android: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/202403436.html

Convert: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/200372686.html

9- You need also Power for android. Usually android is working DC 5Volt. Here is 12V to 5V 3A converter.

Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-DC-Conver...-/130721834041

10- Yes, now you need a FAKRA to AV cable. This cable is not for Comand NTG4.5 but, you can plug to FAKRA, To do this, you have to remove plastic case. There are 2 (I remembered that it was dark green socket) fakra male B input connection back of the Comand head unit. One of them is for rear Camera and other is Video Aux input. I haven't a picture of the comand's back side. If i would take a picture, i'm going to upload the picture to see which fakra connection.

Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-FOR...item564e42353a

Newly found yet, and ordered from Ebay I think this is suitable for Fakra Male B.

As I mention before that if you cannot find like this fakra cable you have to use cable without plastic case, like this;

11- Now, you need to connect Audio input. (I got this schema from my friend in MB service :P ) As you see that, in main fakra socket of the comand there are 3 sockets, A and B,C sockets. When you look at the B socket there are 3 pins for Audio input.

Pin 6 is for AUX Left, Pin 12 is for AUX Right, Pin 11 is for AUX GND. You can connect Audio output from Android to these pins. I prefer stripping FAKRA connector cable used for VIM (As you know that Video In Motion module for unblocking video signal while moving) not for FAKRA comes from the car.

12- Internet connection

13- Enable access point from your smartphone.

14- A TV application in Turkey for Android

15- This is a tv channel. If you have good 3G connection in your country you can watch TV without any interruption while driving.
In Turkey, we can reach 7 Mbit/sec 3G connection by Turkcell, so that we have no internet problem.

16- Here is MBWorld site

PS: Sorry for my english, I hope that this topic could have explained to you.
Can you PLEASE post picture of your Audio Wiring to the mean socket.

Thanks for the great post, AstronBnX. This thread is full of a lot of good info. Now I know that my 2013 COMAND is 4.5 and has two video inputs (one for backup cam and one for aux).

They moved the media interface into the center console in the 2013, and put a USB port beside it instead of the 12v power outlet when it was still in the glove box, so for those with a 2013, you can probably use the USB port to power the android stick rather than buying the 12v > 5v converter.

I've currently got a car ATSC tuner on order, and I'm hoping I pick up some decent channels with it. In my house I pick up 23 channels, but that is a stationary antenna mounted on the roof. If it turns out to be a dud then I'll definitely go the android stick route. It's just a shame we can't use the display in native resolution.

Hi Guys!

This thread inspired me to do the same in my Pre Facelift 204.
My main intention was to show android apps like torque pro/dash comand on the Comand screen, ...like AMG Performance Media for poor fellows!
I did this after I retrofitted the NTG4 headunit of the W212. So here a few pics of my car.

Of course.
First, I'm German and if I do some mistakes in writing english, I'm sorry. But I try my best.

The torque app is installed on the Mini X. The Mini X Android system is connected via CVBS cable to the headunits rearview cam Fakra clutch. Unfortunately the CVBS clutch of the Mini X is a non standard clutch. 1) it is about 2mm longer than a standard one, 2) the arrangement of the 4 electrical contacts (ground/Audio left/Audio right/Video) is totally different in comparison to a standard version. So I cut off the plug of the CVBA cable and soldered the 4 stranded wires directly to the clutch. A VIM multi media interface is required to show the torque app while driving. If you have the OEM rear view cam you just need a VIM module with seperate rear view cam interface. I just wanted to show that this mod is possible with NTG4 headunits. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask for further details.

sounds complicated! thanks for the reply, i think this modification is beyond my abilities hahaha. I think i'll just stick with using the torque app in my phone on a phone holder thanks anyway!
