Thanks for posting this. My subscription copy of AMS arrived this week and I was pleasantly surprised to see this car on the cover with a multi-page picture report inside.

I have been getting this magazine for a long time and when they finally publish pictures like these they are almost always spot-on.

Notice that the car looks very much like today's W204 except:

The nose panel and grill are not part of the motorhaube otherwise known as the hood and the nose is higher at the front and sticks out a bit farther, likely the result of pedestrian protection laws, perhaps EU.

The car shown is a C350 but has a double tube exhaust pipe on the left only.

Another new outside mirror design to be used on all models.

This looks like a real car unlike last week's spy shots with all the exterior styling excesses.

The article lists all the engines to be used worldwide including an overworked 1.6l 4-cylinder gasser. Maybe the C400 diesel will come here. I didn't see any mention of an AMG version but you can be sure there will be one.

This issue should be on the news stands about now and there are many more photos/ of the W205 plus the other rebodied new models including the E, S and CL.

IMO exterior of w204 before facelift is the best, especially C63

Will the W205 be completely new as the W204 was over the W203?

Or will it be more like the R171 -> R172 when the core chassis was just slightly evolved?

If the images are correct, the changes to a W205 will be small from a styling prospective. It will be all about tech, engines, and handling to push people from their W204s.

I suppose since it will be a bit larger, all the body panels will be new and there are some new engines plus a hybrid later. And, new electronics with big markups.

Best thing is to find the magazine and look at all the pictures and if you read German, read about the technical changes.
