if you do not service your vehicle transmission at 39k as stated will it ruin the life of the vehicle ?

No, but all joking aside, this has been covered time after time after time again by Glynn. Please use the search feature. It definitely affects the longevity of your transmission if you don't perform, at the very least, one transmission service.

"722.9 transmissions should have a fluid & filter change EVERY 39K miles - even Vietnam gets it right.

MBUSA & their dealer network are largely to blame for your high rate of 722.9 failures with their filled for life ~ change once ~ then do a half job attitude.

Mixing oxidised fluid with new fluid catalyses oxidation in the new fluid shortening it's service life."

MBUSA has since done a reversal due to a high amount of transmission failures, and specifies that it should be done once at 39k miles. However, if you plan on keeping the car for the long haul, it should be done every 40k miles or so.

Yes I've read those threads I was just clearing up. Do you know what year they said its a must for it to be done every 39k in the us?

MBUSA has never said it should be done every 39K in the US. The a---holes first said filled for life & then drain once at 39K miles to remove build swarf. :crazy: That is why the US suffers so many failures.

In the ROW where we expect high mileage from Benz cars the drain interval/filter change has always been every 39K miles 60K Km's.

The 722.9 transmission works it's fluid hard with all the extra change & clutch slip & lock up cycles.

Change the fluid! Would you rather pay for a transmission service, or a NEW transmission?

thank you all for responding. In my case I wanted to find out because my dealership sold me a 08 CPO which has never had transmission flushed. at 39k or when I bought it at 50k meaning they cannot sell it as CPO and I'm currently dealing with them which seems to be a investment that will destroy the life of the car because they haven't serviced it right.

Good luck.

Just get the fluid & filter out of there ASAP. Also make absolutely sure that they drain the torque converter when servicing.
