Ok to use Sport mode from a longevity POV?
Had my 2013 for a little over a month now. My only complaint is low-speed shift patterns coming out of corners. I notice Sport mode (vs. Economy) makes it better.
Outside of the few hundred higher RPMs in 7th gear, is there any reason that Sport mode negatively affects the car? Not really worse wear on electronics, right? That small difference can't actually affect the mechanics of the transmission, right?
Or am I missing something? Outside of gas mileage concerns, Sport has no negative impact on the W204 is a true statement?

As far as I'm concerned it shouldn't unless you extremely abuse the car itself. maybe someone with more knowledge can tune in specifics

Sport mode starts you in 1st gear while economy starts you in 2nd gear. Aside losing a few mpg from shifting later and deactivating the start-stop feature (I don't remember if it affects pedal reaction), choosing sport mode isn't all that different. A lot of people actually prefer sport mode because, well, it's sportier.

True...if it did have negative effects then they wouldn't have incorporated it into the vehicle. If by chance it does cause a problem then that would be considered factory defective.

For the first few years of the W204, you could set it into S and it would stick. A lot of people on here run them in S all of the time.
I wouldn't worry about doing any damage.

Sport mode will have zero negative effects & possibly some positive ones in that you will never lug the engine which puts undue loads on the thrust side of the pistons.
