Keeping Wheels Unscratched

Maybe you guys don't have this problem, but what do you do, when needing tires rotated and/or balanced, to keep tire guys from screwing up rims?
I've had many problems in the past with this, but would like them to take better care of my C300's rims than I've seen before.

You need a better shop. Find a independent shop which services BMW, MB, etc. and that has a Hunter Road Force balancer. Never had a single scratch from a tech using that machine....very well designed de-mounting and mounting hardware. Many tire shop chains are high volume and less concerned with such details.

Good advice. One local dealer, that has such a machine, cross threaded a lug nut on my Honda. I may just have to have a heart to heart talk with service manager to make sure he is aware of my expectations. The tire dealer where I usually have such work done, is a high volume one as you describe. I can't trust them with the Mercedes.

The word "dealer" concerns me. You need to find a more personalized high end place, such as this great one we have here in southeast Michigan. Look this over and find something similar where you live.

Any shop you take it to should do a pre-service walk-around and inspection with you. If they don't, check each wheel right in front of them and take pictures with your phone. This shows you are serious and have proof if they damage anything.

Good idea on photos. The shop previously mentioned sounds great, but don't know of one around here. Will check equipment at foreign car specialists.
