Can't turn ECO on...

For some reason, when I start the car the ECO function goes off automatically. How can I fix this and what causes it? I know it's a strange question because most of the people want to turn ECO off permanently but I want it on.

Is the eco light illuminated but just yellow? Or is the feature completely off?

When I start the car, the ECO stays yellow for a few seconds and then completely disappears without me pressing the ECO button or doing anything. The problem appeared a few days ago...

Can't turn ECO on

On mine you just have to turn the A/C off. The system is then in ECO mode. I'm assuming that you are referring to the A/C and not to some other economy driving mode? :nix:

I am pretty sure he is refering to the start/stop ECO function:

When on the button lights up green and you get a yellow ECO symbol in the IC

There are a variety of conditions that must be met for the system to work properly, I Think you need to diagnose your system to find out whats wrong.

Oh yeah I see. Sorry and please disregard my stupid remarks! :)

As long as that console light is on, the ECO mode should still be on. Vic viper is right in that there are a bunch of conditions that have to be met before the ECO in the info display gets highlighted green (diff between inside/outside temp, how hard you're accellerating, etc). Sometimes I'll be driving and the system will be on, then by the time I reach the next light, it's gone into standby mode again.

I have noticed that when I'm driving and I disable the system with the console button, then re-enable it, it will become activated again right away. You can try that just before you're coming to a stop to test the system. If that works I'd assume it's environmental factor, or the way you drive that is putting the system in standby.

Actually, the system is not in standby - it is completely off all the time. There is no ECO image on the dashboard, neither green nor yellow... it just disappears after I start the car.
