Folding mirrors in winter

Should I be disabling the folding mirror function during the winter? I haven't yet heard of anyone blowing their mirror actuators so either everyone is turning that function off, or is there some built in sensor that automatically does that if certain conditions are met...

I had mine disabled.
It's all depends on how cold it gets.

Simple to do (disable) expensive to repair/replace - so let common sense prevail
- does not need to be disabled for the entire winter.
MB must luv those ice caked mirror replacements. KA CHING KA CHING.

Turn them off. As soon as moisture gets inbetween the arm and mirror it freezes and your motor won't win. They won't unfold. And the motor will struggle and most likely burn out. Why risk having to spend the money to fix it. I just turn mine off during the winter. Safer

Should be an option in your center console menu somewhere. I don't disable it, and it's averaging -30C around here lately. My car is never really outside for too long, I guess, but it's unlikely raw cold will have any harm.

Move to California and never have to worry about folding mirrors in the winter.

I've never turned mine off since 2/2008. Still work just fine after 5 winters. Just saying...

Only takes once!
Everyone here has same goal to not add to vehicle costs inadvertently - so advice (both viewpoints) have merit -
Simple to change the mirror commands - get familiar and adjust as you so see fit!
Plastic vs. ice = no contest
