The cost is $45,000 (plus sales taxes ) vs $55,000 - $60,000 ( plus tax) for new E-Class with 2.2 liter, 4 cylinder diesel.
The new 2014 Corvette ( winning all kinds of awards over Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, etc ) has new base engine with 460 HP. Price starts at $53,000..... most will sell at $57,000 - $60,000
Why inferior ? Its a no brainer

............ This one has 420 HP 6.2 liter all aluminum V-8 ( base engine from the last Chevy Corvette), a 6 speed auto box with paddle shifters, lots of upmarket stuff ( leather sport bucket seats, navigation / telephone system, but sunroof is option ). Some nonsense is included ..... like automated parallel parking system, where car parks itself via UF sensors and computer control of steering. You press the accelerator and brake pedal.

I get what you're saying. A $20 Walmart hang bag probably have better quality etc but women still will buy a $2000+ premium brand fancy bag. No matter how good the Walmart bag is people will still buy the fancy one.

The SS is a nice piece of work and I look forward to seeing what kind of road presence it has in real life. From what I have heard, it looks much more imposing/impressive in person. It's stable mate, the Impala, went from rental car lot dog to best in class with this year's redo so I expect the SS to be well received as well.
I doubt it will have the overall polish of the Germans and certainly wont have the "snob appeal" but it's a good effort from America.....um, I mean Australia....
