URGENT! Need some feedback please :)

Hey everyone I have a 2008 C300 and it's due a service A at 42k miles. It's about 15 days past service day because the Mercedes Dealership here scheduled it so far out. Well tomorrow is the day, and the service advisor told me that it's gonna run 803.00 because at 45k it will need a transmission flush, on top of the regular service A.

To me this sounds a little expensive for a regular service...I called the other dealership in Georgetown ant they said 750..

Is this right? Should I cancel and just do everything on my own? The transmission flush is said to be around 400 after taxes by itself.

I think A service is around 300ish by itself if I remember correctly. Shop around and go to the one that seem more reasonable

Yes from my understanding that is the price, but I don't think service A has transmission flush included does it?

I called around, Georgetown Mercedes quoted me 750 total.

So basically...service A + transmission flush = service B .... right?

So transmission flush isn't included in that. It's basically a oil change and check fluids and safety point inspection...

No. Transmission fluid change is separate from Service A or Service B. You need to have it done at 40K mile intervals, that's why your dealer is telling you to get it done.

When you're there, make sure they do it the right way and drain all the fluid, not just from the trans but also from the torque converter area. If they don't, they'll only be replacing half the fluid, and that's not right, but most dealers are lazy and don't do it right.

Do I tell them to do it, or do I ask them if I can sit there and watch the mechanic do it? Or do I ask to speak to the mechanic first?

I guess my question is, how can I tell they did it the right way after I tell them to drain all the fluid from the torque converter area also?

Look at the PDF documents in this post:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ce-thread.html

They outline the proper procedure. Print it out and give it to your service advisor or technician.

WHen you get the invoice, if they only charged you for 5 quarts of trans fluid, then they only drained about half the fluid. If they drained the whole thing, you'll be charged for 9 or 10 quarts.

Awesome, il make sure to tell them before hand and check the invoice afterwards also. So 700-800 is a good price for Service A + Transmission ?

Not really, but I've seen other dealers charge similar.

My dealer charges $200 for Service A and $350 for trans fluid change, but they only change half the fluid and I wasn't able to convince them to do it the correct way. Still a ripoff, IMO.
