Adding chrome to window molding
2 Attachment(s)
I have a c220 (dark tanzanite blue) that came from the factory with very little chrome. It only has chrome on the arch above the window frame but the lower window trim and the rear trunk pieces are is blacked out.
I know you guys love to blackout the chrome on your cars, and although it looks great - specially on white cars - to me chrome looks better in darker color like mine - especially with the classic grill. Is there a way to add chrome to this parts? has anyone used chrome vinyl or something similar to it? |
Hi, Just buy the trim from your dealer and replace what you have in black - its a Mercedes-Benz after all, don't play around with chrome wrap!

I agree about the chrome looking good on dark color cars. If I had a white car I'd definitely remove it all.
You could use the guys method above me, however it would be a little expensive. Maybe try to find the part number and order on parts.com |
Your car is a Classic. Bootlid, bumpers, side window's shoulder & lower door trims from an Elegance will give you the chrome bits you want.
EDIT ~ suggest you go to a breakers yard. |

Thanks for the link. I found what I was looking for.
I live in Honduras, and there are not too many w204s around. I have seen 3 at most (including mine). So is hard or impossible to find parts - not to mention trim parts - around here. There is a dealer, but they have very little parts in-stock - if you need something they order it directly to the factory and takes a couple of weeks to get here. I was asking about vinyl wrap since I see so many people here using to cover their chrome trims and I thought that there must be a chrome wrap that was specially designed for this. |
