So I was driving on 287 and right before the toll after the tapan zee bridge(New York), I hit a huge pothole!! I seriously thought I blew my tire lol...anyways after I wanna say 5 secs, I noticed my doors unlocked?!? is this a safety feature?
Btw my c is taking a beating this winter

Yes, its a safety feature. The car probably thought you had just driven into a ditch or something. The roads around the NYC metro area are finished, it will take months to repair them.

That's both horrible and funny. I'm sorry you encountered such a hard impact, but I'm sure apart from any tire damage the car's suspension is fine.

This reminds me of a review I read in Car and Driver years ago. They were running an SL against a few other roadsters, and there was a swatch of undulating roadway where the SL apparently 'caught some air'. The rear roll hoops actually deployed! Pretty funny.

@nyca yes the roads are shot! The same night took my girlfriend into Manhattan for dinner and there was traffic on one of the highways on this east side right before the bridge to go into the city. Thought it was an accident but no...it was a series of deep potholes across the road lol everyone was stopping to go over them lol @adanm that's funny as hell @mb2013 haha yep it was at night and wet

Yes, safety feature where the car think you were in a accident.

Yep, rear SAM picked up the motion and set off the accident sensor. I've had that happen numerous times in the third world country known as "New York City".

We hit a huge pothole on the highway just last week in a friends car. Destroyed his tire and about 20 others who were pulled over with us. An hour later I get in my car to drive home (on a different road) and end up having to drop $250 for a new rear tire.

Today there was a pothole nearly a foot deep across an entire lane on the Belt Parkway. They didn't do anything about it all day. It was eating cars up. Other days I see cops out on the road blocking off lanes because of the holes. The amount of actual repair going on seems to be very little. The roads are absolutely falling apart like nothing I've ever seen. God forbid they invested all of that tax money to keep our infrastructure in one piece so it could handle a winter.

Happened to me a few weeks ago. Now I'm gonna be in the red for an 18" AMG wheel I'm afraid... nasty shimmy that increases with speed

it's crazy how the roads are completely destroyed. One thing I can tell you..I am not driving into manhattan again until I hear they have repaired most roads. The path or penn station it is for me lol

Also i just hope my suspension is ok after hitting that pothole. I actually I felt the pain for my car lol
