Lowering with 4Matic. GOOD IDEA? BAD IDEA?

Hey MB WORLD!

New member and I have a few questions..... I have a 2010 W204 C300 4MATIC.

Im looking to lower it for a more aggresive track stance with coilover setup but dont want to mess up the 4matic...........Should i be worried about this? Should i just leave it at stock ride height to avoid dumping a ton of money into drivetrain work??

From what I have seen, lowering a 4-matic may well be a step you regret. You may increase the drag on the internal components of the transmission by changing the angularity of the drive axles. It appears to me that the drive train reliability on the 4-matic is already suspect (perhaps marginal). I would suspect that this lowering would be followed by more aggressive rubber, all allowing you to extract more performance while also denigrating reliability. Only you and your accountant can determine if the risk is worth the potential cost.

I'm sure others will have more direct knowledge. I have only seen its results on other people's cars, not my own. Mine is rear wheel only.

Yes, instead of spending money on mods, save it up for a new trans - you will need it.
