So I'm confused.. 7G-TRONIC PLUS
Hi All,
MY 2012 C350 4MATIC - Canada.
I've confirmed I have the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission using the VIN Decoder on here.
My next service is 60,000 kms (37,000 miles) and I have 2 questions:
1) Should they be servicing the transmission?
2) When servicing the transmission, should the torque converter be drained as well?
Sorry if this has been asked before. I've searched and am finding conflicting answers. Thanks very much!

The service interval on the 722.9 Plus is 120,000Km. Yes they should drain the converter.
We are recommending people to adopt a 60,000 Km change until Benz proves to us all that the new 236.15 fluid will go 120,000 Km.

Thanks All. This is exactly the conflicting info I've read! LOL Service manual says to perform the transmission service at 120,000kms. Given that I own and am not leasing, I think i'll play it safe and service the tranny sooner rather than later.

Just make sure you are reading the owners manual correctly. For U.S. models you read the service matrix by engine code/model. 2012 is an odd year in the U.S.
Not sure about Canada, but for the V6 models in the U.S., W204s have either the M272 with 7G Tronic or M276 with 7G Tronic Plus.
2012 is an odd year in the U.S. as MB sold:
C250 with M271 (7G Plus no stop/start)
C300 with M272 (old 7G Tronic)
C350 with M276 (7G Plus with stop/start)
The service matrix will tell you. But as Glyn said, no one out there knows if the 7G Plus fluid is any better than the 7G Tronic fluid...despite what MB says (hard to trust them consider 7G issues they have). Change it sooner rather than later.

Thanks Spyked. I have a 2012 C350 - M276 with 7G Plus (no stop/start in Canada). I also put my VIN into the decoder just to ensure I had the 7G Plus

My 2011 C300 4MAtic has the 7G Tronic Plus (blue fluid).

Just want to confirm...you are saying you have a U.S. spec 2011 C300 (old interior) with 7G Tronic PLUS? I've never seen an M272 with 7G Plus in the U.S. Owners manuals don't reference those either.

7G Tronic plus started fitment to some Benz models from August 2010. Don't know when US saw them on W204.

Yes. Old 2011 interior. I changed the transmission fluid a few months ago, and I drained BLUE Fluid. The overflow tube was green, as other 7G tronic PLUS transmission, and I had oval indents. I was surprised , but I put in 236.15 fluid(blue) and have driven over 2000 miles and it drives super smooth. Love it.

Does the 7G Tronic Plus also have an updated transfer case (on AWD models)? Just curious if these will be any more reliable than the older cars. Might be too early to tell at this point...

The $7000 question! How can we find out what engineering or manufacturing changes were made to transfer case from 7G to 7G Plus?

Doing some research, not much has come up. What I would say is MB probably finessed the 4Matic Software, and updated some components of the 7G Tronic to take advantage of the new low-viscosity fluid. The only type of information I found about the transfer case was that it contained a 40/60 differential.

Is this still the same today?
