Nice. I plan on buying that one, with 5000k bulbs. I'm interested to see how cleanly they installed the kit, I'm assuming there will be a ballast attached to the back of the headlight in some way.

Clkboi 04-24-2014 12:51 AM

the Ballast was actually loose on my headlights. The CLK had enough space in the engine compartment to attach them. They were slim ballasts so it wasn't an issue. Not sure on the C300 though but i am assuming it is ok!

I am sure these will look great, but I am worried they will be a step back in terms of lighting output. I don't see how the high beams will be functional with the tiny reflector and angled bulb. Headlights that illuminate the road are sort of important.....

I think the output will be great if not better. The ones that i got for my CLK have a better output than the stock OEM bixenons headlights!

I guess I would ask mercedes that question, they designed the high beam housing, DEPO just copied them. I doubt 2012+ vehicles with the lighting package are driving around with unusable high beams.

I'm with you. I am getting close in getting a pair of this DEPO for my sister. Hoping to receive more feedback soon.

Polar13 is referring to the "tiny reflector and angled bulb" on the DEPO version. On the OEM ILS, it function as cornering lights and it has a H7 bulb. It turns on briefly at night aimed towards the curve and fades off after completing the turn. I am curious if the DEPO version use this tiny reflector for High beam.
I took picture of my ILS to investigate but would not dare to dismantle any further. Looks too complicated but I observed, OEM ILS low and high beams used a single filament bulb or HID housed behind the projector lens. The internal motorized shutter moves left, right up or down when leveling or switching from low to high or vice versa.

Okay, I was wondering how it worked and just assumed it was a direct copy.

I have the lighting package on mine. There is not a "High Beam"bulb. The single bulb move up to light further down the road as traffic moves away from you. I can attest, it is very bight when aimed down the road.

Exactly. The OEM system uses a shroud inside the projector that moves up to allow more light to be emitted. There is no separate high beam. I can almost guaranty for the price of this lamp it does not have a motorized shroud in the projector and instead is relying on the h7 "cornering lamp" to function as a high beam. For the price, it may be best to send your oem reflectors to someone to get retrofitted with proper hid projectors.

Those headlights definitely do not have a motor there! Will update once these come in!

They look awesome! Can you comment on how they operate? do the cornering lights turn on in place of the high beams? And did you get the 5000k or 8000k HIDs? Any error codes? How do the signals look?

xzotik1 04-26-2014 08:27 PM

Sweet... these look really nice. I need a facelift hood and front bumper for these to work on my 2010. I will buy the lights first. Than bumper than hood.

Hi,

Yes the cornering lights turn on when you turn the high beams on. Video:
. I got the 6000K HID's that were preinstalled. No error codes after the install and the quality seems to be ok. Only time will tell but I like them.

JaredP 04-26-2014 11:40 PM

How effective are the high beams? Looks like they are a lower colour temperature relative to the HIDs. Great video

Very nice, I'm convinced:y Time to give lil' sis' a present.
I am guessing still picture #6 shows low & high beam are on which looks bright enough for me. I believed the cornering light reflector is aimed straight as opposed to the ILS. Thank you for the heads up:thankyou:

Man that looks so nice! Great job :y Subscribe this so I know what to do first when I get my FL w204 in the future:p:

polar13 04-27-2014 09:23 AM

Those look great! I agree that the high beams seem adequate. How are they on the road? How was the install? Can you confirm what bulb the low beam is?

dadirtypanda 04-28-2014 12:18 AM

Didn't have a chance to test them until tonight. Here is the video. The cornering light reflectors are angled off to the side when the high beams are turned on and they have an amber color. I think I might need to make some adjustments to the left headlight as the projector cut off line seems a bit low compared to the right headlight.

My local guy install them and it only took him 45 minutes, just plug and play. I went to get a sandwich and when I came back it was done. I wanted to get some pictures but my stomach had other plans. I didn't see what the original bulb was as the vendor preinstalled the HID's and ballast's before shipping them. But the housing above the projector has H7 12V 55W for the bulb type.

JaredP 04-28-2014 02:02 AM

How would you adjust the beam? Do you think it's that it's from how the headlight is physically mounted in your car, or from a defect in the headlight itself?
