What setup are you running? Recommended exhaust shops in Boston/Hartford area?

Anyone from these areas who has done a custom exhaust job and satisfied?

I am trying to get an X Pipe with 2 Magnaflow mufflers (unless better choice comes up) and the E63 tips installed.

Some shops near my area are asking for 600-700. is that a reasonable price? I feel like its a little expensive since i am providing the tips and the X-pipe.

What setup do you have and what have you paid for it and where?

I had a Magnaflow X-Pipe ($87.99) and C63 tips ($275) installed with 2nd cat delete for $100-150 installed at a local hole-in-the-wall.

I *could* have had a tuner shop do it pretty (tig weld/stainless pipe) for $125/hr, but scheduling a time to have my car there didn't work.

Was it worth it?

The C63 tips look great with the C63 rear diffuser, but I wasn't impressed with the X-Pipe & 2nd cat delete. Minimal sound and was expecting a lower sound pitch. Mine sounds raspy.

So you think the way they cut and welded made a difference in the sound you got?

Sounds pretty expensive to me for a couple hours of labor. I think black lavender was referring to his dissatisfaction of the xpipe sound, not the actual installation method. That's how I interpreted it anyway

I paid approx $525 for two Borla Pro XS mufllers installed and C63 style tips welded to the end. I only provided the tips.

I don't know if it was the way it was welded or the type of pipe used, but for me, the X-pipe a lone is not worth it.

New mufflers + x-pipe would be the way to go.

FYI: the "secondary cats" are not "cats" at all, they are resonators. You'll see if you remove them.

I definitely want some mean sound here! X pipe only was never an option! I will go with 2 magnaflow + x pipe and if that's not aggressive enough the secondary cats will be chopped

That's not bad at all! I was debating between Borla! Have a sound clip by any chance?

X-Pipe Resonator Replacement and a Muffler Delete sound the best in my opinion:

Honestly, almost any type of modification you do to your exhaust, will have some sort of drone. There is only one way not to receive any type of drone; That is stock.

Also If I follow your setup but add 2 Magnaflow, am I looking at a lower sound or louder? I am a total newb when it comes to exhausts.
