buying my first benz!!

Okay so I just started looking at the c250 and c300s. I am a realtor in Springfield, MO and need something with good gas mileage and can fit clients. I really like the c250 but I have a couple questions. I have found a c300 4matic that is the same price as the c250, mileage basically same, both 2012 model, both say luxury but don't have the stand up hood ornaments and look the same as the sports. My question is what is the differences between the luxury and sport? Also I know engine and gas mileage is different but it appears insides are pretty much the same? Does anybody have experience with these and can offer any opinions on what they would prefer? I just can't decide!!

Welcome.

2012 C250 has a Turbo 1.8L 4-Cylinder engine and the 2012 C300 4M has a 3.0L NA V6 (They changed C300 to a 3.5L NA V6 "detuned C350 Engine" in 2013). C250 has better gas mileage but then it all depends on how you drive the car.

They are considered "Luxury" sedans, however it sounds like the two you're looking at have the Sport package. Sport package has the flat bottom steering wheel with 17" AMG looking wheels as standard, and the Luxury package has different wheels and front fascia + rear bumper. Currently the "Luxury" C250 is considered the base starting point on a C250 and the sport package is about 2,500 more expensive.

Differences are in form and not function. Good luck.

2013 W204, 2015 X204
The Luxury version hax a smoother ride and more traditional lines (no side skirts, no spoilers, stand up ornament). And, in fact, the Luxury trim is about $400 more expensive than the base Sport trim. And, even in Sport trim, if you get the beige interior, no flat bottom steering wheel.

Do NOT confuse base Sport TRIM with the optional Sport PACKAGE. The Sport PACK is a few grand...but that's an option, not a trim.

Either way....if you are an agent shuttling clients around, go for the E class. The W204 is not back seat friendly.

2013 C300 4Matic Sport
Spyked covered everything and I completely agree with going for the E class if your wallet approves.

I didn't consider the backseat when I bought mine since I normally don't ride with anybody back there. But when I do have somebody back there, it's always an issue. I drive with my seat all the way back (I'm 6'4") and I hate having to move my seat forward a little.

2013 C250 Sport and 2015 Acura TLX 2.4 Tech
Either C or E will be a memorable purchase. I remember buying my 1st Benz, a red 1968 230 right off the showroom in Louisville for, wait for this....$4850. The dealer then added air conditioning for $400 installed. The contrast between my trade in of a'67 Grand Prix convertible was likr night and day. Wish I'd kept that 230...

C300 AMG SPORT
I recommend a 2010-2011 CPO E350 perhaps 35,000 miles or less. Pricing should be close to a 2013 C250.....but than again, go for the Lexus ES300h. 40/39mpg smooth ride, lots of room Toyota reliability and resale value.

I'm sorry guys, per. J.D Power and consumer reports, this is the better choice. I deal with the inconsistency on my Benz because I just love owning a Benz. Perhaps I could do an engine transmission electrical suspension air conditioner and MBtex swap with the Lexus IS 350.... LOL,

You might be the perfect candidate for a bit of patience for the 2015 model C Class. It looks and acts like a mini-S Class, and has been lengthened to provide more rear seat room. It will still be more affordable than an E Class, but it will have the client-pleasing demeanor of an S, just smaller, but with a decent back seat. On the other hand, the E250 with BlueTec diesel has been getting outstanding reviews, and the fuel economy is incredible. MB priced the diesel as the entry model, so it's the most affordable E Class as well. Be sure to compare.

C350
I've run across luxury packages that had the sport grill and ornament installed. Its possible that they are indeed luxury models. Unlikely they'd have two like that. The dealer I went to had 1 out of like 30 cpo models on the lot configured like that.

Based on the OP comments, I think he is mainly looking to purchase used. While I do agree about the 2015 model, that may be well above 10k of the budget.

Could be....hard to be certain from his post....many folks are "monthly payment" buyers, and the difference, given financing for new cars, may not be that significant. At least, we've outlined some choices of which he may not have been aware.

Ah...one of the pitfalls for the American debt crisis.

Time and time again I see so many folks "overbuy" what they really could afford (which I myself was guilty of more than 10 years ago...but never again).

....and, thus, the lease was born!
