I just went to my local place to change the oil 200 miles before the expiration mileage. The advisor came over and recommended that I should do a power flush because of the color of the old oil. Is that really needed? He based himself on the fact that the oil was dark or are these selling tactics trying to up sell?

Lol... I can safely say that I have never seen clean oil come out of an engine which was due an oil change. It has always been dark; go figure...

Never heard of doing a power flush because the oil was dark. If the oil is dark, it's done it's job....nothing to worry about.

I can say it is has some benefit (maybe only at the first 100-200km) but you probably not able to feel it... hence, no value at all... if you cannot feel the difference... don't waste the money...
