Adding LEDs in addition to fog lamps

I have a 2008 c300 with stock fog lamps that I want to keep but I also want to add these LED strip lights I bought off amazon. Looks like they need at least 9v, works fine with a 9v battery. How could I splice these in to act as daytime running lights?

Thanks!

Tap power from battery, trigger wire off sidemarkers.

Cool, is there a diagram that would reference this? Thanks!

Here is my take on adding drls

Got them wired to power up with ignition, and dim with the sidelights.

Hi stilolos, I'd be interested (and so would probably a few of us here!) to hear more about how you did this. Looks really good on your car. Are you able to post more details - or perhaps exchange PMs?

Buy a 12V automotive relay. Wire side marker to post 85, ground 86. Wire battery to post 30, wire post 87 to your DRLs.

It's actually quite simple but it took a few attempts to get right. First thing was to get a drl switch with dimming function. About a tenner off eBay. Next was to get 'eagle eye' LEDs , plenty from china, dirt cheap but the first few I got, they somehow wasn't all the same. A few of them worked from 9v onwards and the rest worked with as little as 3v. I had to email a seller to get 20 sent over that were exactly the same. I have 6 fitted to either side, 1 below each driver and passenger door and also 2 more in the boot for extra brightness.

Initially I wanted them to dim with the dipped xenons but I tried it on all the headlight connectors and never got it to work. Eventually I had to splice directly onto one of the eyelid sidelights so they dim automatically. Also I got power from the engine fuse box. Which one I can't quite remember off the top of my head but it wasn't hard.

Because it's all single LEDs, they can be arranged anyway you want. I've had them as triangles, 2 horizontal rows and also 2 diagonal rows but I think I like them as they are now. They fit in the grille mesh perfectly. Hard to get a picture of them clearly.

Could you please explain this to me like I'm an idiot? I don't understand electronics very well at all and that diagram looks like gibberish to me. I can follow instructions well enough to get the job done but I could still use some help.

It's a 2008 c300 sport sedan and the drls I have work with 9v batteries.

This looks like it would work but if I can wire them up without it I'd rather do that: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA1J30GZ9882
