Adding LEDs in addition to fog lamps
I have a 2008 c300 with stock fog lamps that I want to keep but I also want to add these LED strip lights I bought off amazon. Looks like they need at least 9v, works fine with a 9v battery. How could I splice these in to act as daytime running lights?
Thanks! |
Tap power from battery, trigger wire off sidemarkers.

Hi stilolos, I'd be interested (and so would probably a few of us here!) to hear more about how you did this. Looks really good on your car. Are you able to post more details - or perhaps exchange PMs?

Initially I wanted them to dim with the dipped xenons but I tried it on all the headlight connectors and never got it to work. Eventually I had to splice directly onto one of the eyelid sidelights so they dim automatically. Also I got power from the engine fuse box. Which one I can't quite remember off the top of my head but it wasn't hard. Because it's all single LEDs, they can be arranged anyway you want. I've had them as triangles, 2 horizontal rows and also 2 diagonal rows but I think I like them as they are now. They fit in the grille mesh perfectly. Hard to get a picture of them clearly. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...12be9fcc19.jpg |

Buy a 12V automotive relay. Wire side marker to post 85, ground 86. Wire battery to post 30, wire post 87 to your DRLs.
http://www.reuk.co.uk/OtherImages/5-...tive-relay.jpg It's a 2008 c300 sport sedan and the drls I have work with 9v batteries. This looks like it would work but if I can wire them up without it I'd rather do that: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA1J30GZ9882 |
