Hi my C class w204 WDD2040036L051108 was running very smooth till I gave it to dealership for first servicing. They told that fuel pump of the car needs to be changed as per the instructions of the factory. I reluctantly agreed because my car did not give any problem any time. after it was changed, I noticed that the car is harder to drive and makes more noise. I suspect that my earlier fuel pump was quite good and should not have been changed. does anybody have any idea as to guide me to take corrective steps in this regard so that I can solve my problem.

go talk to the dealer that performed the work. ask why it was changed in the first place. unless its a factory recall, the fuel pump is not supposed to be changed unless it fails, it is not a maintenance item that is changed at regular intervals.

Hi
Thks for replying
The reason given by them is that the new fuel pump is modified as per Indian fuel conditions
But I did not face any problem with original fuel pump . Infact it was providing smooth drive and less noise.

Did you tell them about the issues you are now experiencing after the pump install?

Yes Ihave conveyed to them under cc to the factory. Am still waiting for their reply. when I checked the papers, they have written that they have changed four fuel injectors and not the fuel pump itself. Can you tell me what this would mean. I mean changing the fuel injectors is less serious than changing the fuel pump itself. Can I ask then to restore my original fuel injectors. But they may not have kept those injectors with them. I am waiting for their reply anyway. thanks for guiding me .

Hi, I believe that changing the fuel injectors IS the issue. That's whats most likely giving your rough running. Fuel pump change would not alter any engine characteristics connected to fuel. :zoom:
