Do you know if the USB port in the 2012 is supposed to be able to charge your iPhone 5? I used a 2014 C300 loaner and the port was able to charge an iPhone 5 (same lightning wire). I asked the service advisor if the 2012 USB port should charge but he didn't know and is still checking on it...I hope.

I'm pretty sure that you gurus will have an answer faster he will. Thanks

Should do, but only while key is in the ignition and car is in use.

works like a charm! The only thing I hate when I plug it in through the USB, the Audio menu will switch to USB and do nothing :( Switched it back to bluetooth / disc, there you go!

Did you get it to charge with the official usb lightning cable? I can't get to this to charge my iPhone 5 on my 2012 C350
