C220 Rear screen heater
 

Hi new to the forum, I have a 2 year old C220 saloon and have noticed with the recent cold weather that the top 4 bars of the rear screen defroster are not working, it has been into the dealer and I am told these 4 elements are part of the antenna and do not heat up to clear the screen. Just wondered if anyone with the same vehicle could confirm this as I'm sure when it was new it was working on all the lines. Thanks

They are correct if you are talking about the first 5 or 6 " at the top of the glass

I believe the top four bars don't heat up, they may be part of the radio antenna. This was the case in the civic I used to own, the radio antenna was built into the rear window

In my 2009 model C220, the top 2 wires of the screen heater do not heat up. It's always been this way since I had it new in the winter of 2008/2009.
