Service Interval changed from 20 000km to 15 000km after service

Yes I am a newbie and would appreciate help on this. I bought by MB with 75 000km on the clock. I had it serviced at a MB dealer as indicated by AssistPlus. The service interval was 20 000km apart.
Then at 120 000km I decided to use a retired MB technician. When I received my car the AssistPlus showed next service due in 15000km. Can anyone advised why this has happened?
I do a lot of mileage and the extra 5000km between services would be financially beneficial.
Thank you for a great forum and all the useful info posted.

Mine did this last time. I wonder if it has anything to do with resetting the service interval the dash instead of a star unit. Wouldn't be surprised.

The original service interval for new vehicles was reduced a few years ago even though the engine and transmission were the same. It is likely that your vehicle was updated to reflect the current recommended service interval the last time it was serviced. In the US the interval was reduced from 13,000 to 10,000 miles.

FYI the 272 engine has two MB Approval Number 229.3 and 229.5

229.5, as a superior engine & emissions system protection, hence why you can leave it in for longer.

Hope this helps

Not the case. Mine asked for it at about 7500 miles. Mine is specced for 10k according to the manual.

Just reset it yourself and go for a service when you want to it's not like you have to follow the reminders for keeping the warranty.
