W204 Parking Sensors Turn Themselves Off

Hi guys,

my first time posting something and I have a question. Recently got a Mercedes C Class W204 and for some reason the parking sensors don't work. When I press the parking sensor button on the dash, the parking sensors switch themselves on (the red radar thing at the front lights up red and there is a loud beep noise) but then it switches itself off?

I've tried; putting it into reverse, pressing the button when I'm parking up and various things but it just turns itself off. A friend of mine hooked his diagnostic machine to the car and it said all the parking sensors had low voltage, but the control unit had enough voltage running so a bit contradictory?

If anyone can help/advise I'd be grateful!

The front and rear parking sensors on my C don't need to be turned on - they work irrespective and beep when I get close to something f or r. I have a button on the dash to disable them but I rarely do this as it's easy to forget that you've turned them off. But they reset the next time the key is removed and reinserted. That is to say: the default position is ON.

Your right, thats the way they should work. But whether i start the car again, put it in reverse, drive a bit forward where there is an obstruction in front, they just dont seem to go off
