Whining noise comes and goes
Hi I have a 2014 W204 every now and then I get a high pitch wine from about 3rd to 4th at 2000rpm won't happen all the time. I'm taking it in it s under warranty still. I just hope that the techs know exactly what it is .
Hate these noises that aren't constant. If they rub it off i will register with another dealer.

Will be interested to know what the dealer says.
I have a varying whine which is caused by the A/C when it is lightly loaded.
It sounded like the Auto GB as the tone changed with revs.

Dealer had no luck fixing the noise. Lots of $$s thrown at it. MB decided to pull the plug on 'repairs' and just replace the whole engine (after over 6 weeks of trying.) Had loaners the entire time. MB does take care of its customers.

MB has info on the shift rod linkage making a very intermittent whining noise at a specific RPM and load. I don't know if it applies to your vehicle. It's also difficult to reproduce. Good luck!

my vehicle has whilsting noise when engine speed over 1000RPM, and it's. 100% repro when vehicle totally warmed up.

my car develops this high whine/squeal every so often after reaching about 2000rpm about 2nd or3rd 1sttime i heard this i thought it was coming from the radio or hvac so i shut them all off during the noise was still there. it sounded like it was coming from the console more forward let off the gas and it faded away. now i can drive for about 3 to 4 days without the noise . then on one take off from a light it comes in again.

for me, the squeal is only appear after the vehicle totally warmed up and you can hear it every time the engine goes up 1000 RPM even in neutral gear.
