New To my Car, Weird engine Sound, is that Normal?
Hi,
Recently i bought a 2013 C250 1.8 t. The car runs fine but every time i turn on the car, it makes a sound like a diesel engine for like 3 seconds and then it runs smoothly and without any noise. The noise is like a Rattle sound when starting the car. The dealer told me that it is normal, that those cars sounds like that. Is that Correct,? anyone has the same sound/noise? im a little worried.. trying to avoid loosing the warranty just by ignoring this :nix::nix::nix: |
Eh, mine does this, and runs like a dream. I believe it's normal. When a mechanical failure happens with these cars, it's usually never the engine.
I'm assuming this is why my dealership gave me a Lifetime warranty on just the engine. If you really want to get it checked out, take it to a Mercedes master tech. The really good ones usually go open up their own shops for euro specific vehicles. EDIT: If you're in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I can recommend two that I always take mine too. Both do awesome work. One is for older models, and the other new though. |
Sure not normal for my C250 engines. Smooth on start up and afterwards.

Saw this vid on yt.. its the same sound as my car.. same thing.. same noise.. think that has to be with the engine. Went to the fealer and tested 2 other 250 and no noise

That is weird, certainly weird. Find a decent normal c250 start-up on youtube. Bring both of those videos to the dealer and see their reaction.

very strange need to check if my C180 has that sound

As strange as the noise is... the answer is just as strange. Have the high pressure fuel pump inspected by your dealer. It took my local dealer 5 weeks to figure out the exact same noise you're hearing. Does it sound like its coming from the timing chain area??? If so, I suspect the Fuel Pump.

Also it makes sense because it hesitate starting up.. like it takes more than it supposed to to start..

Well... I never had a check engine light on. Hence the 5 week long diagnosis.
