Nibbler's build thread

Been lurking here for ages, finally decided to share photos of my ride.

This is my first MB car and only the second I have put several mods into. The list includes 1998 Toyota 4runner, 2001 BMW 540i, 2005 Landrover LR3 and 2008 Infiniti G37S coupe.

So Here it is still on the dealer lot. 2013 CPO with 10k miles

After only a week I ordered this

Getting ready to put it in :)

The JB+ was originally set to 90% but kept getting over boost codes to I have turned it down to about 75%. Still feels more peppy compared to stock.

After this I had custom quad exhaust done with MagnaFlow muffler. Removed everything after the cat. S65 style tips and replica diffuser from ebay. No photos at this stage though

Bought a set of wheels from a member here. Brabus Monoblock IV 3 piece 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear. +35 offset all around. Tires are Falken FK452 215/40 front and rear are 225/40.

Neat mods. Kinda jealous of the 540 - I would have loved to have had one of those, but at 25, and getting started with my life, it wasn't the most prudent of choices.

I am curious about the JB tuning piece though. How has it changed your car's driving behavior? How easy is it to connect/disconnect when you take your car in for service (I'd have to be able to do this so that I wouldn't mess with my warranty). What kind of error were you getting when you installed it?

I miss that 540 but the engine was starting to develop major oil leaks and the quote I was getting for repairs where $2k+ to fix. Dealer wouldn't even give me a price saying it would cost as much as the car was worth.

I got a CEL + limp mode a few times mostly in the cold (Texas cold 50-60 F).I go to Autozone and get the code reader and clear it myself. I can't remember to exact code number but the description said over-boost conditions detected. The Since turning it down I have had no issues.

Install of the JB+ is super easy and takes just a few minutes. I have brought my car in for service at the dealer without bothering to take it out, without issue.

Congrats from another ex-E39 owner. Looks great. Just need some "low" in your life now :)

I see you have a Greenway plate frame, are you in the Houston area? Did you do the exhaust yourself or had a shop install it? I just got into a 2013 C250 and have been debating on doing dual or just the single, but will have to go to a shop to get it installed since I don't have the facility to do it myself.

How have the headlights and side markers been working for you, any issues with either?

ickdeep May 20, 2016 01:18 AM

Looking clean! Keep it up.

Do anything in terms of exhaust sound?

Yeah I'm fron Houston. The exhaust was done at a local muffler shop, don't think i'll use them again though. I just didn't like their attitude. The clear corners and headlights are working just fine after all this time. I have almost forgotten that they are not original pieces they have been on so long.

I'm using a magnaflow muffler, i got rid of the stock muffler and the 2 resonators. Sound is great.

I used a similar setup to this.

How do you like the KW v3's? I've read mixed reviews on the drop.

The V3s ride great Better than stock but the drop isn't as much as I hoped. I have them maxed and find myself still wanting more.

That's disappointing, and i've read people saying the same thing. I guess I'm passing on the KW's, as stock suspension is pretty low all ready. If the drop was perfect I'd defiantly jump on them. thanks for the update, I just wanted more opinions.

I have v3s theyre great. My fronts are all the way down and my rears got half sn inch left. I wouldnt go any further or else it'll rub the fender well. I had a fat chick in there and it was rubbing the arch! Not even the fender. Its perfect.

V3s give ****ing great handling. I can take turns/ramps like a beast.

Not anymore. I have pulled rear fender, and even with slight stretch this is the first tire of several sets i have tried that has no rub in the rear at all. They are some cheapo brand I never heard of before. I'll check the name and update this post later with the info.

Was curious how your side markers are holding up. I put mine on sometime last year and noticed the silver is flaking off on one.
