Can someone please tell me how to wire this in terms that a non mechanically inclined person can understand? Mercedes makes everything so complicated that you have to be the second coming of Einstein to understand it seems and I refuse to pay them $325 for what seems to be not an even an hour worth of work...

take the wire that runs your parking lights, splice that, and wire it to the positive lead of your star, then ground your star.
the wire was a thin grey wire on my car. You can test it using a light tester and turning your parking lights on and off.

It took him an hour because connecting the wires to the sam unit was in a really tight space and he was a fat guy with sausage fingers

You may want to check if it's legal. In most, if not all states in the US, this is illegal. Which is why OE MB star lights do not stay illuminated. Not a problem for most, as LEO's don't look for this with intent. However, it does give the LE officer a "probable cause" to stop... same as a tail light out. So, if you don't mind getting stopped as you leave your favorite watering hole, and are following all laws of the road... well, you get the drift.

It's illegal in Illinois and Indiana. I don't think a cop is going to go out of his way to pull you over for it, but like the poster above said it's probably cause. The Leo that I talked to said it was the same as having 20% tinted windows in certain states. They won't always pull you over for it, but they can if they want to.

Just gotta be smart. When youre driving on the car pool lane, open the window a crack (or sun roof and let the light shine threw) Let the cop see you so they kno you can be in that lane.
Im also not one of those loser childish punks too. My friends that are cops just say, dont be a dick (and give them a reason) and they wont bother you with tints.
Dont drive with loud music and zipping infront of the cops.

The most I got from that video was that fatty needs to hit the gym. He is talking to cops and shoving french fries down his throat. Hard to admire his confidence and intelligence when he is doing that.
