Rear brake pad and rotor replacement DIY
Can someone please add this to the existing posts?
Thanks to the article here on mbworld as well as some DIY posts, I was able to get this done without any difficulty.
I had some differences on my car vs. the writeups, however:
The T-45 bolt head of the caliper pins looks like a standard Allen head to me, although the T-45 worked.
The 7mm Allen head of the brake pad sensor mount was an E-10 external Torx on my car.
If you have any issues with removing the rear rotors once the T-30 bolt is removed that holds the rotor to the hub, use a sledgehammer! I had to really whack the rotors hard with a 15 lb. sledge in order to break the rotor free from all of the corrosion that built up between the rotor and the hub. Not to mention that the brake shoes for the e-brake are there giving some resistance as well.
