Seeing your average speed of 13mph the 12.9mpg seems pretty accurate. Are you letting the car warm up a lot before driving it? That will definitely eat a lot of gas and not something that is necessary.

I'm also a city driver (NYC to be precise) with an average MPH like yourself and I get 13mpg as well, so I think you are fine. Try integrating cruise control on green light sprees if you are looking to get gains, this brings my number up a bit and it can be a bit fun seeing how many lights you catch going 30 lol. Take a roadtrip and check the highway milage you get, the longer you go the more accurate it should be. My car gets beyond advertised highway milage, see if yours is close or above. The advertised city mpg is most likely computed by Mercedes at an average moving speed with stop-and-go traffic conditions superior to my locale, which results in my less than advertised city MPG. A measure to improve mpg beyond these would be changing spark plugs, engine air filter, and lowering HVAC heating/cooling usage.

Yeah stop and go traffic consumes a lot of gas. They days I'm stuck I see around the same numbers. Sad but it's still a decent size engine you are feeding, so I don't hope you bought it for the fuel efficiency 😉

I get around 30mpg highway also, and your city gas milage is about the same as mine too. How did you check your spark plugs? Any links or videos would be great.
