W204 Headlights - always on even when it is not dark
Model: W204 2013 CDI 220
I have recently been experiencing a problem with headlights in AUTO mode.
Ordinarily, they switch on automatically when it starts getting dark, however for some reason they are now permanently on, even during the day in bright sunlight.
As a result, the daylights are off.
I can switch the headlights off if I turn the dial to off, however when I switch it to AUTO, they are back on, even during the day.
Is this something that can be fixed easily by cleaning a sensor, etc. or does it require technical expertise?
Thank you.
However, my problem is not with daytime lights, but with the main headlight.
Under normal conditions, during the day, I have daytime lights (LED) on and headlight off. This is normal and expected operation. Then, as soon as it starts to get dark, the headlight automatically switches on.
What is happening now is that the headlight switches on even during the day, and the daytime lights (LED) are off. In other words, it is the opposite behavior: the vehicle switches the lighting system on as though it is dark all day.
Is it the sensor in the upper middle part of the windscreen, or is it somewhere on the dashboard please?
