Transmission Service Info!!

For most of you guys who are confused about transmission service, look in your service manual. I cant believe i completely neglected the (engine...) part. Almost wasted $500 on a service not needed for another 25,000 miles. This information was confirmed by my service advisor at the Mercedes Dealership.

2008-2011 has the 272 engine, 7G. 2012-2014 has the 276 engine, 7G+.

For 40,000 miles it states:
Automatic transmission – oil and filter change (engine 156, 157, 272, 275)

For 70,000 miles it states:
Automatic transmission – oil and filter change, except for E 400 HYBRID (engine 152, 271, 276, 278, 279, 651)

70,000 miles is the first transmission service for 2012-2014 models.

Many people have still been opting to do is sooner given the problems 4matic versions have and the cost in getting these transmissions repaired.

But with all the conflicting info out there it is confusing.

Isn't the 2012 model also equipped with 3.0L, the same as previous years 08-11?

This is good news for late w204 owners. I paid $415 for the trasmission service from an indy shop.

A 2012 c350 is equipped with the M276 3.5L engine.

If your car engine looks like this, then you have the M272 engine.

much more of a hassle to get underneath your car to check the fluid color than just opening up your engine bay to see which engine you have lol

I have late build 2011 that takes the blue fluid. M272 engine, so that's not really a good way to see. Call the dealer and give the vin, they'll tell you which fluid.

I believe this is because the blue fluid is backwards compatible. But this does not mean you have a 7G+.

Whereas I don't know of any model with a M276 that has the regular 7G.

I can assure you that if you had the regular 7G, the dealer would not have given you blue fluid. A friend of mine received the old fluid type from the dealer recent.

True, all the newer motors came with the 7G+. But this does not mean that no M272 engine came with the 7G+, because it has, a few members on here have 2011s as well with 7G+ trannies. You can visually inspect the pan and the overflow drain plug to verify as well, since they are different from the normal 7G.
