Oily rag
This is my first posting on this site, so please go easy on me!
The question I have for you guys has probably been done to death already but wherever I enquire, I just can't get a satisfactory answer.
So here goes again........When stationary, for longish periods, do I leave my car in Drive or shift to Neutral or Park?
I drive a lot in traffic jams and can sit, going nowhere, for long periods. It just doesn't seem right sitting in Drive with brakes on, (foot or handbrake)
I have read, elsewhere, that sitting in neutral, or Park will do more harm than leavin in Drive.
I would love to hear your comments and are there any MB engineers out there who have the definitive answer?
My car, incidentally, is a 2010 (w204) C180 with the 722.6 Auto box.
Thanks in advance.
I often put in park and turn the car off for trains.
But Mercedes cars have the hold feature on the brakes. Just use that.
