Door Lock/Unlock Beep vs. Honk
 

I know this has been discussed before but I'm wondering if there are new thoughts. Mine honks when you lock/unlock. When I changed my horns to Bosch Supertones, the honk notification went away. I am assuming my horns demand a stronger current for this. I can hear the honk but very faint. Instead of the honk, I really want the chirp/beep sound from the W203's and 202's.


Is there a way for the 204's to do this. I called the dealer and they do not know anything about enabling this beep. I don't think mine came with a factory alarm. When I press panic, car horns go off.

Mine "chirps" when I lock/unlock? Idk why yours wouldn't unless *_* crap mods

I know 08-10 chirps but I'm not sure if they removed this feature from the 12's.

My December 08 W204 Sport (2009 Euro model year with LED mirrors etc) never has had a sound, and there's no way to enable it. It doesn't bother me. :zoom:

In either 2011 or 2012, they switched from the beep to the horn chirp. My smart had the beep - I miss that.

It helps me know if I locked the car from a far without looking at the lights. I am very close to buying a piezo electric buzzer so I can hear a chirp.

Doesnt even make sense, unless you flipped it. Cause mine chirps.

My memory might be failing me on the years. Facelifted W204s beep the horn. At some point before the facelift, they make an electronic beeping noise.

Correct, facelifts beep and prefacelifts chirp.

IMO chirp>beep>no sound
