Command knob fix! Don't waste your time

The turn function of the command knob didn't work on my '09 C300. Like many of you here it bugged me that it didn't work properly. Instead of having MB do the fix for $600, I did it myself. Not an easy fix. I just installed a new aftermarket shaft. The big problem is even for $30 it isn't worth it. Come to find out, the side to side function of the knob does exactly the same as the turn function. Don't waste your time or money! If anybody knows of any other function let me know.

Can you zoom in and out on the nav screen?

My C300 '09 doesn't have a nav screen. Just radio, phone, system, etc.

I fixed mine because I needed it to be right. An annoyance to have something broken.

That's kind of why I did mine... And I like to tinker. It only cost me $30. But for $200 or more at a dealer, not worth it. But yea,,, I fixed it.

I too had mine fixed. I brought mine aluminum made, removed the control, replace the part, done. Easy fix and don't ever have to worry about it breaking again. Paid $49 plus it came with removal tools for the interior. When I decide to sell my car I'll have a peace of mind knowing that everything is in working condition. I even went as far as replacing the cup holder & gas cap the plastic cable was broken. I'm like Dennish.

I fixed mine, just 5€. Glue the broken parts and then reinforce them in all four corners along the shaft.

As new! No problems since then.

Just use a strong glue (like those to mix..)
