Crackling Exhaust

Hey. I'm new to Mbworld but read it a lot as a guest. I drive a 2008 C300 Sport with an x-pipe installed.

It currently crackles on deceleration when i floor it on a cold start (and it sounds great). I was wondering how i could always get it to crackle on deceleration, especially from higher RPMs. I've read everywhere but can't find anything of use.

Can anyone help me out on what i need to do?

Removing the two smaller resonators that are upstream from the main resonator will give you some more/louder burbling on aggressive acceleration, but you won't be able to replicate the sounds from a cold start after the engine is warm.

Flooring it on a cold engine.........SMH. Let me guess you let it hit the rev-limiter from a cold start to help it warm up? You do know mechanicals need some time to warm up before you press them hard right?

could simply be replicated with ECU mapping by delaying fuel injection times. I'm just looking for a less expensive alternative

I'm looking for people to take the car for what it is. My car "crackles" a lot actually. Delete your mufflers along with the xpipe. It will never be a race car so don't try lol.

"Take the car for what it is"
*suggests deleting mufflers*

and apparently crackling exhaust = race car

rip logic

Deleting mufflers & having a straight pipe makes for crackles & flashes that light up the night sky.

Will certainly draw the attention of the constabulary.

I wish this thread was in the W204 C63 AMG section... the comments would be epic.

"Taking the car for what it is" aka not asking how to replicate Lamborghini V10-V12 sounds on a 6 cylinder Mercedes. RIP to your standing on this forum immediately.

Well, short of finding a way to get the cold start fuel map/ingition timing to run constantly even while warmed up, as well as secondary air injection (don't do either of these things..), there's not much you're going to be able to do to get the popping/crackling

First gen W204 are clearly in the hands of the Civic and Eclipse crowd. Time to watch them be dumped onto the ground and neglected. Sad to see the W204's go this route.

There are still some of us that want to keep the car tasteful, right? :rolf:

No don't worry, that crowd moved mostly onto Infiniti G35s and G37s

I was big in modding my car before my Benz. But I did it right...

So apparently only Lamborghini V10s and 12s can crackle their exhaust. That's very close minded..

A toxic poster tells me my standing is gone..rip my standing i guess lol

I never said they are the only car. To retard your timing and tinker with your fuel just to get your little crackle is dumb. Go crawl back to whatever Subaru you came from.

lol sorry my priorities aren't your priorities. My thread was simply about how to do it, i could care less about your toxic opinions.
and i'll actually crawl back to my Suzuki :)

Clicked on this thread because I agree it does sound great on a cold start. Was hoping you found a way other than muffler delete. I don't want the highway drone sound from muffler delete. I think with x-pipe and maybe some 40 series flowmaster mufflers we could get the nice sound we want. I may try it in the next few days.
ADD: Sound I'm shooting for but a little more tame

This is lame... if the guy can get his C300 to crackle then more power to him... flooring it on cold start is not smart, but remapping the ecu to get the exhaust to crackle is cool.... if there are people on here with xpipes and muffler deletes, a little crackle isnt too far from that... lol some people get on a kick and then fail to look outside their own perspective... Everyone knows its not a lambo and an old c300 would be a better benz to modify this way than an e or s class. Itll never be a civic
