Hi All,

I have been told by my local Mercedes Specialist that my water pump will need to be changed in the near future as he can hear the bearing is on its way out probably due to the belt tensioner being faulty.

My question is I can get an OEM one for a decent price rather than going to the stealership for double the cost but which brand should I get?

The brands I can source are:
Hepu
Hella
SKF
Febi
Valeo
Meyle HD

Does anyone have any experience with any these water pumps that they would recommend and do you know who make the genuine Mercedes Water Pumps?

I think Whaler makes the ones that came on the car originally. You can find them on Amazon pretty cheap.

Why is there such a fixation on brand?

As a former marketer, I loved customers that were fixated on brand. A brand is nothing more than an alleged reputation. That's why when people say "I'm paying for the brand", I usually laugh (not that I'm saying all brands are bad).

Just go with one that is well reviewed, that's probably your best bet for which one to buy.
