Door Lock Pin Knob

Good afternoon,

New to this forum, really appreciate any help and feedback.

I have a 2010 C300 4Matic.

The door lock pin knob sticks up pretty far when the doors are locked. Does anyone have an aftermarket source that would allow replacement of the knobs with one that is flush with the door panel?

The main problem is a result of when I rest my arm on the top of the door with the window open the lock pin knob is in the most perfectly annoying spot and hits my arm.

Thanks for any and all your help.

RG

This is one of the most common complaints about the car. There are some replacements available but I think they are primarily cosmetic (metal instead of plastic). Although they may sit more flush but I don't quite remember.

The new models still do this too. I'm not sure what the purpose of these things are for in a modern car. They seem like vestigial remnants to the days of manual locks.

The same could be said for the ESL that causes many people grief. What purpose does that solve as the car can't be hot-wired?

I bought the aluminum aftermarket door pins, and they sit perfectly flush. They will only run you about $40 too. The front thread on, and the rears are supposed to "push" onto the pin, but mine wouldn't stay so I ended up using a small dab of super glue on the inside.

If u rotate the knob 90 deg it will come free of the shaft then u can lower it so it's flush with the door panel. U may need to remove the door panel to do the job.

Thanks so much!

Can you post the a link where you purchased the pins?

I really don't understand why they do it, my 2003 SL did not have this problem, it did have a pin however when the car locked it when flush with the door panel ... S500 did the same.

does this mean the 'C' isn't worth the comfort and more pleasant look??!! jk

My car, recently installed. I think if you had to use glue you did not seat the pins correctly.

Trust me the rear pins were seated exactly as they should've been, but the two "teeth" on the rear door lock refused to keep the new pins installed. They aren't ever coming off again anyway so a dot of glue on the inside of the pin didn't hurt a thing.
