W204 vs W205
I brought my car (c300 sedan 2014) to the dealership today and they gave me a rental c300 coupe to drive.
I believe its a 2017, only 1700 miles on it... and I gotta say, if it is a v4, which I don't think there is a v6 version, this thing feels faster or just as fast as my v6 c300.. is that right?

The W205 has a faster shifting transmission and they got rid of most of that horrible electronic throttle lag. So much of the driving feel is improved. I just can't get past the interior design. I think the 0-60 times are comparable.
In the W204 I honestly can't tell much difference in performance between the C250 and C300 although the C300 is slightly faster.

I'm with you on the interior. I pressed a button and it felt so cheap and plasticy. Even the wood trim sounds plasticy if you tap it. Also I can't stand the tablet style display they chose. I mean the darn thing has like 1.5" bezels, its 2017
If I change my car off eco and in to sport it feels pretty good. I just leave it on eco for the mileage.

Even in E mode it makes the the car much more predictable. One up to speed on the highway I'll switch out to get 7th gear back.

W205 interior over the w204 but exterior wise the w205 looks too 'soft' in my opinion.
My friend with the same opinion bought a w205 but eventually switched to a w204 after half a year

I'll go with what I own, model for model, for my comparison of the two (w204 C 250 vs. w205 C300). The w205 interior overall for sure, even though I much prefer the dash integrated screen. The w205 transmission in spite of my utter disposition toward the stalk shifter and I do love the power increase as well. Exterior, w204 hands down for the sedan. I like both coupes, but still think I'd prefer the w204 coupe exterior. Also, navigation of the Multimedia interface from the w204 hands down. It's not great to begin with, but the "tweaks" to the one in the w205 made it much, much worse. Haven't heard the Burmester, so I can't say I prefer it over the HK or vis versa. I like the HK in the w204 a lot. Hated it in my e82 1 Series. I, generally, don't like HK's in BMW's at all. Now, I'd say if I had to pick one thing to transplant, car for car, I'd take the engine with more power from the w205 in the w204 as the only thing and be happy.

I bought my W204 CPO after stepping on the lot to check out a new MB. I heard 4cyl turbo and saw the tablet glued to the dash and started walking. Sales guy did his job and said if I wanted a v6 '14 was the last year and he had a lil old lady car for me that was currently in detail. I came back an hour later to find a silver 4matic sport, multi-media package, back up camera and pana roof with only 8,000 miles. This was October of 2016, KBB on the car was $33, OTD I was $29 flat which was a screaming deal.
Other killer on the W205 for me is the Ford Taurus rear window...I hated the way the top corners are rounded on the glass, completely changes the look of the car w/pana roof (or without for that matter) vs the square glass of the W204...I guess it's not as noticible on a black car. I will give a nod to the W205 exhuast tips though...shweet
What brings me here today (first post, new member) was looking for info on where the F'g oil plug was on this car!...which I couldn't find here or anywhere on the internet. To boot the manual shows the dipstick on the top left of the motor and it's actually on the other side! I found both the plug and dipstick despite MB's ****ty attempt to force me to a dealer, changed my oil, filter and cabin filter in under an hour (vs $550 dealer quote) and now I'm going to pop around here a bit. Nice to meet ya.

As far as 204 vs. 205... I too liked the 205 C300 Sport I drove, but the 204's a more refined car with a classier and less cheap feel. 205 is more performance based though so it's give and take. 205 is also gaining a strong aftermarket following.

Just to save you the grief of someone thinking your an idiot down the road there is no such thing as a "v4". It's a 4 cylinder. The V in front of 6 and 8 is for the shape of the cylinders being in an actual V shape unlike a straight line of a 4 cylinder.

Well in the terminology he used they are not V4's. 99.9% of 4 cylinders in existence are not V4's but 4 cylinders. We can sit here all day and go back and forth on technicalities. I'm just trying to save him from going to a meet and sounding dumb in the future is all.

Well I just got a loaner vehicle from the dealership which is a 2017 C300 4Matic with AMG package..with like 2500 miles on it.
I like the different options of dynamic handling how you can choose different modes of driving ( E, C, S S+ & Individual ) Pickup is smooth and handling is pretty good too.
Now I hate the interiors.. its so cheesy, filmsy and looks just cheap. There is not a single place you can mount your phone in those vents... Dont like the shape of the car.. and I miss my 3.5 litre V6 M276 engine. I think the designer just got lazy and used the S class model and made it much cheaper..
Cant wait to get my 2014 C300 back.... This car is definitely a NO on my upgrade list.. when I decide.. Unless its an AMG engine..

It's reassuring that I'm not the only one that feels this way. Car reviewers FAWN over how awesome the 205 interior is. I just want to see if they've had their heads kicked recently. It certainly is cheap and flimsy to me too.

I had one as a loaner recently and also found the interior to feel a bit cheap. Everything had a plastic, hollow feeling to it. After parked for a bit in the sun, there were many creaks, rattles, and ticks as you hear the interior pieces expanding/contracting while driving down the road. It just didn't give that feeling of German heft anymore.

With the new run flats in E/S/C classes and no space for spare tires, and now direct injection everywhere, my next car cannot and will not be a MB.
Sigh.
Don't get me wrong. I have been seriously trying to figure out what new car to buy but I can't think of any outside of a 2018 Audi A8 3.0TFSI with dual injection (no, not the new one that's coming to Canada in 2019) or a...2018 Subaru Legacy (lol).
The W204 has been bulletproof (or close to it) and it meets 95% of my criteria. (and mine isn't DI as you all know) so guess I'm stuck not blowing my money...

Performance wise it should be close to your c300.
I'm not really impressed with the w205 c300 acceleration.
I ran my friend's 2015 c300 4matic and beat him pretty badly.

I'd love to own a W205 despite never have a chance to drive it ... stronger engine, roomier, bigger, etc., but not a C300 because I dont want to drive a Mercedes with 4 cylinders.
Isn't that how BMW and Audi have been doing for years? Prety much same look, just the size is the difference. It'll save automakers $$$ by not designing each model a different look.

I've had two W205 service loaners and I think they did a good job with the new model in several ways.
For one, I'm glad they did away with the pedal-operated parking brake, that thing drives me crazy.
Second, the W205 feels a little roomier inside and they did a good job tuning the low-end response so it doesn't feel like a 4 cyl engine under the hood.
I would say the steering and ride are pretty similar.
On the subjective end of the scale, the exterior look is certainly different, to say it nicely. I think my W204 looks more like a Mercedes, not a fashion statement that will go out of style in a few years.
