Brought car to dealership for creaking suspension - rough idle - heres the invoice

Just in case you were curious...
The suspension or something was creaking while driving normally. Additionally, the car would rock back and forth on cold start before switching it into a gear.

Dang. With 21,000 miles??
I'm getting concerned about the reliability of these things. I still have 18 months of warranty, so we'll see how things go. But...

yeah. I know. Scared me too. I am going to have to drive this thing into oblivion before the warranty is up so I can get it all fixed!

You have the same car as me too! how many miles?

I think I have 36,000. Just recently purchased it. It was Mercedes certified, and I know they replaced the front brake rotors/pads and all four tires.
I'll drive it through the warranty period and make a decision at that point on whether to keep it.
I absolutely love the car, I'm just still concerned about the reliability.

You're in the same boat as me then. I just bought it as well, in July, CPO.

Yaa I bought in Feb with 19,500 miles.... currently at around 25k miles and i am gonna make an appointment at the dealership soon regarding the suspension and cold start. There was a service bulletin regarding M276 engines for cold start noise.

How much warranty do you have left on ur car? Did you purchase extended warranty ?

I have through March 2019 I believe, I did not buy extended warranty, though maybe I should have. Looked like it was ~2300 for 2 years, but that was just what he told me, no negotiation. I probably won't bring it to the dealership after the warranty is up. Or I may even just sell it back to them at that point, I don't know yet.

Are you sure its till March 2019 and not 2018 cause being a 2014 car the bumper to bumper warranty is 4 years or 50k miles whichever comes first.

If you guys are scared by that you should see the paperwork I have from 20K to 50K miles! But then everyone else always says the put 130K miles on without anything but routine maintenance.

Mine is 2019 also. With Certified they add an additional year of warranty.

I bought my 2014 CPO Oct. of 2016 w/only 8k miles on it. Two issues I experienced were the headliner wasn't clipped in along the back windscreen which the dealer remedied. I also blew a tire in the first week, to find the tread depth wasn't close to the CPO checklist requirement (verified w/measurements from another MB dealer). I contacted MB who comped me two free tires installed at the dealer of my choice. I have a new dealer now . I'm handy and plan to service most issues myself post warranty, but am hoping it runs like the tank I expect between now and then. So far I'm extremely happy with the quality of this car...though the manual shows the oil dipstick on the wrong side of the motor???

so they replaced the engine mounts, whats the big deal? not that involved of a repair.

engine mounts on 204s are known to be weak and sometimes require replacement before 100,000 miles.

I didn't know this was such a pervasive issue? Any additional cites that you can provide on this? Thanks

i had to edit my post, i left out "sometimes" and it mistakenly sounded more matter of fact. I didn't proof that before posting....

in my limited knowledge, three 204s ive seen, one needs mounts, and the other will likely need mounts. both have less than 70,000 miles. it's common enough on glk that ppl sell / fab a special tool to make the job easier on 4matic versions. ive also done engine mounts on an S class to resolve a shake, so maybe its just a MB thing i dunno. searching around the forum you'll find discussion regarding engine mounts too. these cars are butter smooth, and any sort of vibrations at idle felt in the seat it's usually the first suspect.

god i had to edit this thing 400 times i need call it a night.

Thanks and understood. Based on your post, it doesn't sound like it's too expensive of a fix, right?

I wholly agree with you that these engines are super smooth. While I haven't had my engine mounts go bad, I can definitely see that it'd be noticeable.

Wonder what it is that causes these to go bad? I've also never read that these mounts were liquid filled, so my guess is that inherently these engines aren't high on the vibration scale so unsure what causes them to fail so prematurely.
