2014 back up camera guidlines?
Searching around the board I've been unable to find a thread on our w204 c300's and bringing up the reverse grid lines for the back up camera. I've gone through the hidden engineering menu and selected one at a time srvc, drvm, dvrm-psc, rvc2.0, rvc2.0-psc and svs, backed out and ended the engineering menu. Put her in reverse and no changes in any mode. Can this be done or no? Step by step appreciated if you've had success.
Thanks!

When you set the guidelines options to "enabled" you need to back out of the menu through the "exit" option at the end of the list and then shut your car off and remove the key. I believe there is a time delay too. When I was installing my reversing camera I remember having the same issue as you with the guidelines not coming on, then suddenly they appeared the next time I went to drive the car.

My understanding is that unless you opted for the Multimedia Package (which gives a bigger screen among other things), there are no tire-tracking lines with the rear camera. I just bought a 2014 C300 without the MM package, and I absolutely HATE the backup camera. It's useless for backing up.

Drives me crazy because i had a freaking honda that has them. I used it religiously, it was a great system. People that say "just turn around" just dont get it. Once you get used to it it's amazing. Backed into my garage in 2 seconds, no worries, lime playing a video game.
I'm getting used to not having the guidelines, but would be so much better with them.

They really dont get it because "its not reliable". We have a 2012 Honda Pilot and it has the lines (I love it!), but my 2013 C300 doesn't. I just dont get it.

A vendor on here sells a 360 camera system that looks offer the features of the newer MB systems. I'm thinking of getting it next year.
The problem with the the systems in our cars is they were engineered way back in the earlier part of the century and they never bothered to update it in the later model years. The cameras just sucked for the entire lineup of Mercedes vehicles. For cars in the $40K-$100K range it amounts to a crime against customers.

If you have the stock w204 camera it will not be right to have the X204 guidelines turned on as the w204 's camera is not centered on the back. If you dont have the backup camera buy one that you can mount near the center of the car and then you can enable the lines and it will serve a purpose. The camera I have replaces one of the license plate lens and still provides enough light during night time but the nice thing about it is that it is almost dead center so the X204 guidelines that I enabked on the command is bang-on centered and angled correctly.

I have the opposite problem: I installed an OEM camera with grid lines before I knew they were COMAND overlays. Very colorful but annoying. Thanks for the news that I may actually fix the issue without a new install.
