2010 C300 4MATIC limp mode when driven hard?
Hi,
Long time MB owner, purchased a C300 with 40,000 miles for my daughter a few months ago and it has been flawless until now. My son drove it and came back with the trouble triangle lit and the car in limp mode. After turning the car off the triangle goes away and it's back to normal. Tried to scan with my obd2 scanner but no codes. My daughter must Drive more conservatively since it never happens to her. I made it happen by driving 55 and flooring it and changing lanes, like you would do to pass someone. Also happened when I floored it from a stop making a right turn. Somewhat dangerous since the car almost dies pulling out in front of traffic.
Can an someone point me in the right direction, I assume it has to involve the stability control since it's cutting power?

Are you sure it isn't the traction control warning? If you floored it and it momentarily broke traction that would come on. Not sure about being in limp mode as it would then store a code.

Well it's a 4matic and it really doesn't have the power to brake the wheels loose, it is the yellow triangle with the ! In the center of the speedometer. It does not go off and it goes into limp mode. Immediately corrects when you shut the car off and restart.

Needs a real scanner, there has to be a code if it's popping into limp mode. Sounds like something is triggering the ESP system, could be something small like a wheel speed sensor, but hard to say without knowing the faults.

I race all the time and it happens to me, if you floor it, you are most likely pressing the click there is to end. For me it works when I am in c mode and I floor it, it goes to 4K rpms, but when you click it, it goes to 6000 so it boosts the engine. Just my experience on it

The 'click' you are talking about is called a kickdown if Im not wrong. And all it does is just shift the car a gear back so you will accelerate quicker. This should not cause the car go into ' limb' mode unless something is wrong with the engine I guess

Somebody is very active today 😁 I'm saying put it in c mode, floor it, then click the end thing forgot what it's called and does it turn on your ESP inactive, if not turn on your ignition just not the car and hold down the final click thing what does it do? Just want to know if my car is damaged

Hard to understand what you are saying but I'll do my best. You are talking about flooring the pedal through the kickdown in c mode. I think most of us here have done that and your car should give zero problems doing that. Yes, the esp might come on for a second and thats because your wheels are slipping.
I dont understand the part where you are talking about not starting the car but only turning on the ignition. If your engine is off and you floor the pedal, nothing is suppose to happen ... because the engine is off....

Doing that before flooring it results in quicker downshift and throttle response but shouldn't cause any error codes.

To the Original Post, I would suggest have the speed sensors at each wheel checked. Although you read the OBD II codes, this is not an engine/emissions management issue and will likely need the MB STAR to retrieve codes.
The speed sensor is likely causing system to think it's in a skid and triggering limp mode.
